Has anyone ever had a dog with a pinched nerve before?

Our 7 year old, Ginger, all of a sudden was in a great deal of pain. She wouldn't walk, and when she absolutely had to, she was carrying her right rear leg, and walking on three. The only thing is, there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with that leg. She'll stretch it, and we will, and she will never wince.

Here's what I've noticed, she's even having a problem balancing on her remaining rear leg, because her back is not straight - it is a bit twisted in her lower back. She will not straighten her back for love or money - and I feel like she is probably carrying her right rear leg because it keeps her back twisted away from the pain.

I've tried to straighten her back when she stands, and she squeals and snaps at me. Same thing when she lays down, she keeps that back end twisted around.
I try to get her to roll onto her back so I can rub her belly (which would straighten her back) and she does the same thing.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Our vet gave us a prednisone and a deramaxx to see how she reacted - she did get a bit better - her tripod walk was a bit more stable.

My doggie Kodi had a pinched nerve and she cried when she tried to walk. We took her to the vet and they gave her a shot of some pain killer and some tablets of steroids. A few days later it was all a memory.

Both of the leg and the back. I'm surprised your vet didn't recommend one.

by seeing if it was just arthritic.

We're probably taking her in for x-rays today.

I'd rule out more serious issues before deciding it's a pinched nerve. The problem with her back not being straight leads me to think this isn't a pinched nerve at all.

The thing is, I can't cause her any pain by moving her legs, or rotating them in the socket. The only place she has pain is when I rotate her back to straighten it.
