This rant brought to you courtesy of PAIN
Hello Lounge! Long time no talk.

About 7 months ago, I got a severe pain in my left shoulder. I have always had difficulty with my neck and shoulders as a result of a car accident. This new pain I was feeling was going down my left arm.

I go see my ghetto primary care physician. He scripts my an antiinflammatory drug and physical therapy.
.
The pain goes away. The meds and PT seems to have worked.

Three months pass. Suddenly, my right arm is paralyzed! I can move my fingers, and bend my elbow, but I cannot lift my arm. I am scared as shit.

The pain goes away. I hope that it is over.

A month goes by. Suddenly my left leg, my hip joint, begins to hurt. I can't walk up stairs.

The pain goes away. Two weeks later, my right hip joint starts to hurt. That pain goes away.

The I go on vacation. Day two, my left arm (rotator cup, the arm pit) freezes up. I go to the ER and they rule out a heart attack. They think it is lime or rhumetory arthritis. The give me pain killers. The meds work, and I don't feel pain.

Now, almost everyday, either one of my arms or one of my legs hurt. It is always hits just one joint (left or right hip joint, or right or left rotator cup), never two. Now it hurts to walk up stairs, steer a car, or operate the clutch / brake / gas peddles.

So I am in pain. It is causing trouble at home, work, and in my relationship. Ouch!

1. I am very, very sorry.
:(

It sounds like you need to start seeing some good specialists.

I hope it's something they can identify and deal with.

2. Thank you for your reply my friend
I have been really scared and trying to put on a brave face for my family.
I needed to post here just to rage against the machine. I needed someone to hear.
Thanks again for your reply. Peace and low stress to you and yours.

3. Physical pain really wears you down.
I hope they give you something to fix whatever it is and not just pain meds. Not that I'm knocking pain meds...
So sorry you are hurting!

5. I noticed your absence, mdmc.
I'm sorry that it's because of pain. I hope that you can get a consult for a good specialist (and yes, I understand that isn't as easy as it sounds.)

6. I am sorry you are going through this.
I have moderate to severe pain every day of my life. I know how awful it is.

Get referrals to a rheumatologist and a neurologist as soon as you can.

10. As an empathetic person, I am embarressed to realize
that people live with pain.
My mom has RA and she told me that she cries every morning when she gets ready for work. Too much pain. And, I, blissfully unaware.

Thank you for your support. Peace:)

7. Oh, my, I hope you're not becoming one of the Pain People.
It's not a group you want to join. I really do hope you find out what the problem is, and that you're able to find an effective treatment.

I like you, but I do hope you don't become one of Us. (Pain People, that is.)

9. This sounds serious.
You need to have some tests run. Please, take care.
