If you see someone without a star today, why not donate in their name?

I don't have time this week to match people up like I did during the last fund drive, but I can see that it is taking place already.

Some of the notes I received in my inbox from the recipient's of DUers' generosity (most of the donations were made anonymously) were so moving. They were so grateful for the gesture and felt the embrace of the community that we've built here. It's amazing how such a small act of kindness can make a difference in someone's life.

The benefactors were quite pleased as well. In fact, I had a few ask for more names because they got such a kick out of it.

We hear tales every day here of someone having lost their job or confronting big medical bills or dealing with a variety of issues that prevents them from donating. Giving a contribution in their name is just one way we can put our money where are values are.

To do so, just put the person's screen name in the appropriate spot on the donor page. You could do it anonymously or send them a note to let them know you've done it because you appreciate their contributions here.

Please give this a kick every now and then to keep the seed planted. It might be nice to hear from those who received stars last time or those who helped out.

(But I ain't sayin' for who...) :shrug:
