So if you give someone your number and they don't call you
do you feel like a dork or do you feel like nothing ventured, nothing gained? Or some other fill in the blank feeling___?

1. Nothing ventured....
Absolutely. If you never take the risk you're always left wondering "what if". If you do and nothing comes of it, so be it. Onward and upward!

2. Never Read Into It.
Often times men will get a number, and then for days sit there staring at it. They'll keep thinking "should I call? Will she answer? Does she want to hear from me?" etc, and my keep procrastinating out of fear. Then, as each day goes on, they start feeling like too much time has gone by and you may not even remember them anymore, or that they'd feel like a fool suddenly calling you out of the blue. Course, there are other reasons they might not call as well, but that's why you can never read into it too much. Sometimes, all it may mean, is that the guy simply didn't have the courage to hit the last number.

4. That, or he may have shoved it in his pocket and then lost it. :P
That happened to me once.

Ironically, I found it again after I ran into her again and got her number a second time. :P

3. In my current state, I'd take it extremely personally
I'd logically know I shouldn't, but I would anyway.

Guess that's why I'm not handing out phone numbers right now. x(

5. yeah I guess I really shouldn't because I'm feeling that state of mind right now
I had a couple beers in me at the time and was feeling alcohol induced confidence. For the record, I didn't give my number to Russ Feingold because I could never possibly be drunk enough to have that much courage!

7. But you did give Russ MINE, right?
;)

I agree with the assessment upthread, he probably lost it or chickened out himself. He's be CRAZY not to call you otherwise!!

How was the luncheon, anyway? We missed you Friday evening! Hope you're feeling better and well-rested!

9. I wrote yours on Russ's hand in permanent marker
now he'll have to look at it every time he uses the urinal. ewwww that sorta squicked even me out.

Yeah I'm bummed about Friday but when I finally went to sleep I didn't wake up until 3 am! I figured it would be too late to call you at that point :-P Keep me in mind next time, promise?

10. We were definitely home and asleep well before 3 AM!
And I will definitely keep you in mind next time. If not, sooner. :)

8. Since I'm a man
I of course feel like I missed an opportunity and should have been more aggressive by getting her number and calling her instead, since that's what most women expect.

11. On another note...
I have horrible gaydar, and I was talking to somebody about music and he gave me his number... any clue if he was just interested in talking to a fellow music geek, or do you think he was possibly hitting on me?

Keep in mind that I have a rather large ego, so normally I'd assume the hitting on thing. :)

On the plus side... he was kinda cute.

15. In that case, I'll have to give it a little time for my natural charm to set in.

13. Relieved ...

:-)

I gave a person my number once that turned out to be a stalker, and ever since then, I've been very nervous about it. Kinda messed up, I know, but if I give someone my number now, and they never use it, I kinda feel relieved.
