4. They did that to me, too. A couple of years ago.
Why do they advertise that they can find just the right person for us, and then refuse to do so? And boy, talk about rejection!! There's not a single human being in their database that'd be right for me. I rationalized it at the time by telling myself that I was in such a rural, out-of-the-way place that they couldn't find anyone near me. I still tell myself that. It feels better than "you really aren't good enough for anyone!".

E-Harmony. Bastids.

Makes one wonder if there would be a high compatibility between those that are refused by eharmony.

I've never tried them, but somehow I'd expect that I'd be rejected just as easily. And I've met plenty of people who I'm compatable with.

None of them would make it onto eHarmony either, I'm guessing. :P

22. Lucky you!
About two years ago, an unfortunate relation bought a membership for me and it was horrid. Apparently, my perfect matches are racists and/or sexists and/or jackasses.

On my "5 questions" to ask matches, I always asked about views on traditional gender roles and favorite books. Most of them were "GIT N DER KICHIN!" or "since you're asian, do you (disgusting sexual practice)" or "Hannity is my hero." Feh.

36. Subservient geisha fetish + Asian boys seeking mommies.
I personally think that race is one of the top matching categories, as I received a hell of a lot of matches from people who have absolutely nothing else in common with me. Plus, I received a lot of matches from white guys seeking something along the lines of a mail order bride. Just sickening.

29. Consider it Divine Intervention Darth_Kitten - they're creepy fundies...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EHarmony

<snip>
eHarmony was founded in 2000 with $3 million of Series A funding from Fayez Sarofim & Co. and individual investors.<5> Dr. Warren, an evangelical Christian with strong ties to the conservative Christian community, attributes much of the initial success of eHarmony to its being promoted through James Dobson's Focus on the Family radio show. In 2005 eHarmony sought to distance itself from Dobson and Focus on the Family, largely in an effort to broaden the market share of Warren's books and that of eHarmony according to Warren.

40. Ha! I rejected THEM!

I did their free trial membership thing a while back just for giggles. That was before I knew they were a big ol' fundie site. Anyway, I got some matches, but one of the first guys they sent me made an utterly insulting, sexist remark in his "Five Things" list. I told them that after everything I put down in my profile, they should realize that he is exactly the kind of guy I was trying to avoid, and told them to cancel my membership. For a while they tried to persuade me to stay, and I had to explain to them that their service was of no real value to me because I could find guys like THAT anytime I wanted down at Hooters. Eventually they cancelled my membership.

So, not to worry; I don't think you're missing out on anything worthwhile.

look at all the hearts you have and replies to this thread.

Perhaps it would help though if you took your shopping carts back to the store.

Surprisingly, they did not reject me and I thought they had before. I think it may be better to be rejected though, they keep spamming my email. I have not joined because it would just involve spending $20 a month to be rejected by people like DA. I can get rejected for free at the local Hooters.

46. Oh dude, seriously.

His remark bordered on misogynistic and was inappropriate at any time, much less when introducing himself to a woman he wants to impress. I really doubt it is anything that a guy on this website would ever say.

I just told them that if they were going to send guys like that my way, then their woooonderful personality-matching software wasn't nearly as accurate as they thought.

Sometimes you never know too. Some people in GDP seem to think "I don't support Hillary" IS misogynistic.

I tried them for a little while in the late 90s, (no didn't know at the time the fundie connections).

Virtually every guy they sent me was cookie cutter. He was a SW engineer about 35, lived in the newer burbs, moved here from somewhere else for his job. And seriously, I couldn't distinguish one from the other. They all looked the same. And I never got past the point of the stupid 20 questions bullshit they make you go through.

I decided I'd do better meeting interesting people on my own. While I have meet fewer men, they have been different individuals.

She didn't like any of the matches.

E-harmony creeps me out. That's the message I got from that commercial.

52. Well, then have one of my remaining hearts...
As for E-Harmony, I tried to sign up with that place when they first started advertising, and the same thing happened. Despite what they say, there is absolutely nothing "scientific" about their process, it's the same standard stuff as on other dating sites, just more of them. If you don't get pigeonholed into one of their little categories, you're fucked. (Well, not fucked, you know what I mean).

As long as those changes don't involve cheating or stupid behavior! Seriously, we dump all this money into dating when we really should just get out a little more and truly look for the ones we love in person. We lose so much by taking an internet profile as solid and discover things are much different.
