I applied for LEAP back in the first week of December
I had to send so many documents back that they all wouldn't fit in the envelope they provided. So I got my own, bigger envelope, stuffed it, wrote APPLICATION INSIDE on the front of it and went to the post office. At the last minute, I decided to pay to send it certified so I would make sure they got it.

Well, the weeks went by and I never got a payment. In the past when I applied it took awhile for them to process so I wasn't too worried. Finally I called the office today (damn, it's almost spring) and their computer showed that they mailed out the application but never got it back. I had my receipt and I took it to the post office and they did a search on it, it was delivered the next day and someone signed for it. The only problem is I never got the document back saying that the LEAP office got it. They had to to an archive search (cost me $3.80)pulled up some documents, mailed them to LEAP's post office and I was suppose to come home and wait. I have no idea what's going to happen next. If they make me fill out another application it's going to really tick me off because I am always careful to have all documents proving my income, my lease,my power bill, etc. I have been doing this a long time and always have all my ducks in a row. What I do know is they better make my payments retroactive from December.

THEN!!!! I went down to the the clinic to get my Monthly supply of medications. I get so little in SSDI and pay so much rent, I don't have a copay.ADAP pays my copay and they have been paying my copay for years. I filled out my ADAP application last December also and mailed it in and they approved and mailed me my card. Anyway, when I went to get my medication they told me I had a $35.00 copay. No warning, no letters, nothing. I asked the pharm tech WTF and he said that ADAP never got my "bridge the gap" application. This is all brand new, they started this this year. I was really pissed off but they gave me my meds and said I could pay it later. I went home and called ADAP and they sent me an application for this "bridging the gap" BS.

I just needed to vent. I do everything correctly on my end, yet these people just don't give a fuck and uphold their end of the deal. So now I have to hop the bus, get copies of my documents, and mail them all back in before next month. What a pain in the ass!

1. I'm sorry that you're having to jump through hoops
It infuriates me that in this so called fabulous country we live in that there are people who can't get the medical care they need. We hear a lot about the number of uninsured Americans but I think that's just a drop in the bucket compared to the number of UNDER insured Americans who can't afford their annual deductables or insurance copays. Seeing my 70 year old mom cry after having to go to the hospital via ambulance because the last time it happened the ambulance company wasn't a preferred provider and she had to pay $500 out of pocket. Shit like that is just not right. A couple weeks ago we had to call 911 and take her in to the hospital for diabetic shock and hypothermia. She was in the hospital less than 12 hours and the bill was over $10,000. WTF! She "only" has to pay 10% but that's 2 months worth of mortgage payments. This is how we treat people? The really sick thing is, and don't take this the wrong way, I love my pets, but it really makes me sick when I think that a lot of pets have better access to health care than human beings. And then I look at our current contenders for the White House and I think that nothing is going to change. So wrong, so very wrong.

You know we're here for you to vent. I hope things get straightened out quickly because you don't need that kind of stress. Take care.
