It's very fluffy and when the light hits it, it looks like someone threw diamond dust and crystals on the ground...

well it's pretty....
until I have to go shovel

1. I had to drive in it earlier today.
Presented a workshop today in Brooklyn, so I decided to drive instead of taking the train. By the time I left at 2, they had already closed GSP south of exit 145 because of all the multiple accidents. I passed six accidents, myself, between the Holland Tunnel and home. Made it home safe, though, after a few close calls. 280 was a nightmare!

It's really coming down nice and pretty, right now. And don't worry about shoveling. Let the rain tonight take care of that!

:hi:

4. Snowing in Manhattan, too...
...for maybe the first time this year. It's nice. I LOVE snow. I moved from L.A. to NYC at least in part because I missed the snows of my Pittsburgh childhood. Little did I know how often the Eastern snows bypass this twisted island due to some kind of oceanic influence I neither understand nor will stoop to pay lip service to. I should have moved to Buffalo.

Fucking typical.

7. We've had six feet of snowfall so far this winter
That's above average for us. It helps to have the right tool for the job:

There are several features to note:
1. D-grip handle - this is a must for pushing and adds stability for lifting (which I avoid at all costs).
2. Articulated handle - Saves your back as you don't have to bend over so much for lifting (which I avoid at all costs).
3. Polycarbonate bucket - no sense making the shovel any heavier than it needs to be. It also holds its shape where metal shovels tend to get dinged up.
4. Galvanized steel edge - great for scraping and protects the business end of the shovel.

Cost me $12 seven winters ago and it's still going strong.
