Mrs R heard this morning that her mother died. And given that her mother lived in South Africa,
she won't be going to the funeral. Long day around here. Redstone

Hope you and the Mrs. can get some sort of closure eventually, even if the funeral isn't an option.

Maybe she can have a memorial service for her mother at some later date. May her mother's memory be for a blessing. :grouphug:

20. I'm sorry for Mrs. R's and Your Loss!
I wasn't able to attend my own Mom's funeral and it's still a loss. Might I suggest that you figure the exact time that the funeral would happen in South Africa and hold your own Solidarity Type Moment in Time. Go to a beach or the garden - just something to mark that same place in time. Perhaps it would help and give closure or memories she could look back upon. Best Wishes!

25. My condolences to Mrs R and you,
Redstone. Man being so far away is awful. As much as I hated losing my mother, I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't been here to participate in planning and go to her funeral. Indescribably hard. She might consider having some small ceremony here with everyone she cares about. That can help the grief process. Much love to you both.
