One of my daughter's sisters is going to get married.
He's a US Marine, headed for his third tour in Iraq.

She's a couple of months shy of her high school graduation.

2. Do you mean sister's daughter?
Sounds like he's been around the block a few times. There's nothing like experience for safety. Godspeed! :hi:

I love them all.

11. Got it. I'm sorry; I haven't had much experience (obviously) with extended family scenarios.
:dunce:

Cute kids!

3. One of your daughter's sisters is a male marine?
Sorry for the flippancy, but the idea of someone going to a third - a fucking THIRD - tour of duty into ANY war, even a just one, has me so befuddled I'm gobsmacked into an inability to say anything inappropriate.

Add to that the idea that any parent would allow a child who isn't even out of high school to marry at all, let alone marry a Marine....

I'm stupefied.

Utterly fucking stupefied.

Jesus - three tours? That's insane.

I hate this administration more than words could ever, ever convey.

6. I'm with you. I never thought I could live in times of such outrage saturation.
No matter which act one thinks of in the Bush administration, there are a hundred others that seem equally criminal.

7. One more time.
The bride is eighteen.

Yes, the three tours is bad news.

12. My power? I have no power.
Sadly.

I'd sure like a Death Star, though.

13. My dear Ptah...
Oh, that's a lot to absorb in a short time...

Normally weddings are happy occasions...

I wish them both all the best...

14. OMG
I wish I could go talk some sense into her.

I REALLY wish people about to jump into those marriages had it in them to wait until the other person gets back, and is home for good, so they can ride out the adjustment to noncombat life, PTSD, all of that. So many people come back with completely different personalities, it's not fair to the girlfriend to put them in a position to gamble on that.

(I know it does no good to lecture you. Sigh.)

16. I appreciate your perspective.
I am frustrated, and they are both adults.
