Cell phone?

I've had cell phones (starting with car phones) since 1990. Very few people have my number - I just want to make calls in an emergency and/or have someone else reach me in an emergency. I don't think I need people calling to chat while I'm in the bathroom, for instance.

Right now I have a Verizon Motorola Razr. It sucks. My wife has a Moto Chocolate. She hates it.

Contracts are almost up.

All I need (I live in New England) is decent service, bluetooth (for headset) and maybe a camera, and the camera is optional. My wife, who at her job has a lot of downtime, would like to get on the web.

iPhones are a bit out of my price range but I'm thinking of Blackberry's with AT&T. Anybody try these? I know they're popular with some people but aren't sure exactly why. I suspect it'd be better for my wife than for I, since I'd probably be just as happy with an indestructible LG. We could get separate ones. What are the AT&T plans like? Any good? We have land lines and don't need a zillion minutes; we have GPS's so we don't need that, we don't send pictures back and forth, etc. Just want a frickin' phone, and my wife would like to look on the web during her down time. Any suggestions? Will a Blackberry be plenty, or overkill?

Thanks

1. I have an LG enV

They come in silver, green and orange.

I like the qwerty keyboard and the camera. I can take video, still photos and send text/video/photos.

I don't use the email feature as I don't want to be that connected to work.

It's been easy to use.

I've had it a couple months now and have been a Verizon customer for many years (origionally Airtouch Cellular)

2. Oh, and I was advised to stay away from the Blackberry Pearls
I looked at them and the keys are tiny. I have no idea how someone can type anything on it.

3. I used to have a TracFone
It worked very well when I only needed it for emergencies. Sure it's pricey per minute, but since I used it less than 30 minutes a month, it was much cheaper than having a contract.

I just got a Credo mobile, since my land line is so gawdawful I hardly use it any more: ever since AT&T took over my local phone company, the service sucks swampwater. I'd avoid AT&T like the plague, and not just because they're so cozy with the Bush people. Credo uses the Sprint network, and so far I've been very pleased with both the reception and the service. They do offer something similar to a blackberry, but it costs a bit more for net service. Mine just has a camera and bluetooth.

Credo's a very blue company also, which matters a lot to me.
