I had to leave the GD-Primaries section today. My 90 year old grandmother died last night at 10:05. Of course at 90 years old that is to be expected. But I needed to leave the crap on GD for a day or so. I haven't spent much time in the DU Lounge but it seems like a nice little island to visit to get away from the homeland.
I was thinking of the life my grandmother saw. The 1929 stock crash and depression, the rise of the Nazis and WWII. The life of FDR and the great social programs (that she used throughout retirement with Social Security and up until yesterday a week of Hospice paid by Medicare.) The 1960's Civil Rights era, Vietnam, the debacle of Nixon, the 1970s recession, 5 grandkids born in 1975-1985, the birth of the computer age, cell phones, and on and on. Quite amazing.
Sorry for the rambling. Just doing a little reflecting. Have a good weekend everyone.
