I'm a kitty Dad!
Edited on Sat Mar-01-08 09:48 PM by Richardo
Last night our cat D-J hopped up on the bed at 3am, put one paw on my chest, shuddered a few times, and delivered two kittens.

(Sorry, no pics because she's got them in seclusion and really, they're less than 24 hours old.)

But: Here's momma cat:

Last May - she was just a kitten herself. One of the kitties had these exact same markings...

Last November.

Everybody's doing great and I've been laundering the bedding :)

10. Actually, I think that makes you a feline grampa! Congratulations!
I love the fact that she thinks enough of you to have her "birthing experience" with you! I would have loved to see the look on your face!

2. LOL. Yer a doula! I am surprised she didn't make a little nest in a hidey-hole for
a birthing place instead.

3. Me too - that was part of the big surprise...
She did take both of them under the bed when she was done. We put her in a medium-sized kennel in a darkened room to keep her and the kitties away from any inquiring dogs.

5. She's a considerate kitty...
She wanted you to know what was happening. Not only that, she trusted you to help her deliver. I think that is a great honor...at least, that's the way I felt when 'Tastrophe came to me when it was time for her to deliver. Congrats! :toast:

15. Wow she must really trust you to have her kitties on you!
Congrats! :toast:

Now, I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything, but would you please get her spayed soon? There are just so many millions of kitties who need homes, we need to do more to prevent kitty overpopulation. Thanks. :hi:

16. I was thinking the same thing.
Not to bust anyone's balloon or anything. But we have to kill almost 4 million cats per year in this country because they are so overpopulated. That is so sad. Many of the shelters and humane societies do low cost spaying. You would have to do it quick after this litter is done being weaned because they come back into heat right away.

21. get that cat fixed please.
I participate in a cat rescue group. It's hell trying to find homes for animals so they don't have to be put to sleep.
