A rottweiler attacked my tortoise!
The neighbors rottweiler, Ruby, got through the fence into my yard. She gets along fine with my dog, and she's a good girl, but she just HATES my tortoise!

He's well armored, so he only got a little boo-boo on his forearm. But he was stunned - he wouldn't move for about an hour, even when I offered him his favorite foods. But he eventually calmed down and enjoyed his treats. But poor little tortie... he was scared!

4. Replace your tortoise with a snapping turtle for about a week and
'accidently' allow the dog to get into your yard. May take a couple of chunks from his nose, but, eventually, he'll leave your tortoise alone.

I had a dog once who encountered a snapping turtle in my driveway. I didn't realize the turtle was there until it was too late. A chunk of the poor damn mutts nose later and one EXTREMELY healthy degree of fear and respect for what it could do...He never went near a turtle again. Hell, hearing the word 'turtle' would have him banging on the door to get inside for the rest of his life. He was about 15 months when he encountered the turtle and lived over 12 years.

11. Glad your tortoise came through without much damage.
My Rottweiler loves other dogs, but I don't know what she would do if she saw a tortoise. Probably try to lick it to death.

13. John Cornyn warned us about stuff like this - thanks for ruining it for us

"It does not affect your daily life very much if your neighbor marries a box turtle. But that does not mean it is right ... Now you must raise your children up in a world where that union of man and box turtle is on the same legal footing as man and wife." - Senator John Corny, R-Texas

:hide:

I'm just not ready to accept man-box turtle love yet but I hope the lil guy is ok
