5. I'm so close to early retirement I can TASTE it. And my body is letting me know...
every damn day how badly I want out of this asylum. I'm supposed to take a cardiac stress test tomorrow afternoon and there's no way I'm going to work in the morning before that.

I'm still pretty young and I only want to 'retire' to doing something more fulfilling.

Of course, in any state, there are jerks. Do you want to be closer to family members?

Anyway, glad you quit the sucky job! :toast:

24. When I quit my job at Dillards in Florida, I told the boss ( new guy ) that he was a douche
Two months before that, he had grabbed the arm of a co-worker of mine VERY hard ( so hard it left a bruise ) because she had gone back to another register that wasn't manned and he got upset about it. She had grounds to sue, but she wasn't the type of person to do it. I urged her to...she was a nice lady ( also a Northerner trapped down in that hell-hole for whatever reason ) but she wouldn't.

Last day I clocked out and stuck my finger right in the managers face and told him he was a douche-bag and I was getting what I wanted....so he could cry on his pillow that night, if it suited him. The guy acted like a Nazi to all the employees in the mens department ( but then, just about EVERY FUCKING JOB I had down in that state felt like I was working in the god-damned military... ).

I hope you told those bastards to fuck off! And if I knew you were quitting your job, I would have given you my name and asked you to give them a FUCK YOU from me! ( chances are, some of the people you worked with are some of the people I worked with...they were all OVER the place ). Look forward to seeing you at a meet-up back up North where you belong!

26. I know what you mean.
I have had high blood pressure since 1990 and an overdeveloped startle reflex for years.

I haven't worked in quite a few years, being one of the long-term unemployed who stopped looking for work, and still have to take several kinds of medication for my blood pressure. The effects of the stress last long past the stressful job.

Best selling author (over 1 million books) Stuart Wilde estimates that only 6% of the population has any empathy or consideration for other people in our society. That means that he thinks that 94% of the population is sociopathic and narcissistic.

I have no idea what the real figure is, but the kind and compassionate are far outnumbered by the ruthless and uncaring sociopaths who run the country and run the companies. They don't care if you live or die. They don't care if you have stomach trouble, life threatening diseases caused by job stress, or anything else about you. You're just a robot to them to exploit.
