I'm sitting here in the CCU.
By my mother's bed. She's on a ventilator and sedated heavily. Things are very grim. She's asleep and comfortable, but I don't want to leave. The hospital has WiFi. I need to find a site(s) that will help me stay positive and not dwell on the awful things that are going on inside or outside this room.

Any suggestions? Fun, humorous, quiet (I turn the speaker off),

1. Sorry to hear you're in a bad space
This might cheer you up a bit: a complete time-waster, but fun.

I hope things get better for you and your mother.

2. I've been reading DU, but
there is so much candidate A versus B hatred and horrifying economic news that it makes me even more anxious. I really need to relieve the stress.

what's your favorite site(s) for reducing stress?

8. I'm so sorry things are so grim.
I probably wouldn't be able to leave, either. I always like to play this to pass the time:

Or thumb through the archives at Astronomy Picture of the Day:

http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/archivepix.html

The Washington Post and Newsday also archive their crossword puzzles.

I hope you find something to occupy your mind so you don't dwell on the situation too much.
