Wish me luck.
In 27 minutes I am going to attempt to get my daughter signed up for swim lessons. The servers will be full, there will be serious waitlists, and I may not be successful.

:argh:

1. I DID IT!
I got my daughter enrolled in TWO sessions of swimming lessons through the city's community ed department. I had three tabs open to the registration pages AND I was dialing the phone line. Finally got through via telephone.

There are literally only about 80 openings in each calendar session for each level and this is a city of 200,000. I am pretty amazed.

For the summer lessons (after school is out) we go to the YMCA and do not bother trying to register through the city.

3. Last time I tried to register her...
I was on both the phone and the computer for over 4 hours and only got one session. They open up the registrations at 9 PM on Sunday night... so I was on the computer/phone until like 1:15 AM.

This is why, for the summer, we go to the Y. It is further away but the summer lessons have an extremely high demand, and it saves my sanity not to have to deal with trying to register with the city.

4. I slept outside a school one night to try and get my son enrolled.
It's those kinds of things we do for them that makes life worthwhile.

5. Yes it is.
Crazy thing is that over half the capacity of the aquatic center that is owned by the city is taken up by a private aquatics program that charges an arm and a leg for their programs. They charge enough to BUY THEIR OWN POOLS, but they choose to stay at the city pool.
