McCartney ex-wife awarded $48.7M
Edited on Mon Mar-17-08 09:06 AM by Amerigo Vespucci

LONDON, England (CNN) -- Former Beatle Paul McCartney was Monday ordered to pay nearly $50M to his estranged wife as their bitter divorce battle came to an end.

Heather Mills told reporters she was "so glad" her legal fight for a share of the pop legend's fortune was over, as court documents named the final figure as £24.3 million ($48.7M).

McCartney and Mills failed to agree on a settlement ending their four-year marriage in divorce hearings last month, leaving Judge Hugh Bennett to decide the terms.

The figure fell short of the previous record for a litigated divorce settlement in Britain is £48 million ($96 million), handed down last year, said British divorce lawyer Julian Lipson.

1. Well, it's $50 million too much, but in the end, I'd say it's a good deal for Paul.
And a nice slap in the face to her that she gets such a minimal amount of Paul's wealth.

:applause:

That's reason enough for me.

14. What makes her one?
"Trollop," I suppose, means infidelity? And she's a gold-digger because of McCartney's money?

34. Oh, I don't know - could be her DNA, could just be her personality.
Perhaps the way her parents brought her up.

I don't know.

I wonder what her mother is like, and what the relationship between her mother and father is like.

"Trollop" does not necessarily mean a prostitute or woman who exhibits infidelity. It can also mean slattern or immoral or promiscuous woman, or an untidy or slovenly woman. She doesn't seem to be untidy, though.

I call her a gold-digger not because of Paul's money, but because she appears to have more interested in his money than anything else.

6. Yes, a good deal compared to losing half of his total assets...
...my first thought was that Paul's kids, especially Stella, really hated Ms. Mills. They're probably not happy with this news but I'm sure that they'll ultimately see it the way you do...

She just wanted Paul's Money, even offered to give him the child if he gave her a certain amount of money.

That lil girl is worth more than all his money and he knows it. Beatrice deserves to appreciate life without a gold-digger as her role-model

33. And I love the way she talks about wanting enough to take care of the kid ("enough" being
a LOT more than $50 million). How many families have the luxury of raising a child on $50 million? Not to mention that I'm sure Beatrice will still get an inheritance from her dad anyway.

9. Dear Paul - before you marry another gold digger - get yourself FIXED!!
Seriously, this would have been alot easier if he had a vasectomy. Once a child was involved he'll be forever connected to that gold-digger.

The door opened on the side of this industrial building, and out they strolled. Nobody on the street but me and them.

21. She wanted about 250million and she says she plans to appeal the divorce
If she's smart and wants to repair her damaged public image she should take what she got and disappear. The money she got has nothing to do with their daugther. Sir Paul will see to it that the kid gets everything without having to go through the ex to give it to the lil girl

20. Why should Paul pay for her 'Charity work' in the divorce settlement?
Edited on Mon Mar-17-08 09:53 AM by LynneSin
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2008/mar/17/mills.mccartney?gusrc=rss&feed=networkfront

I'm so glad it's over," an emotional Mills told reporters outside the court. "It was an incredible result in the end to secure mine and my daughter's future, and that of all the charities that I obviously plan on helping and making a difference with - because you know it has been my life for 20 years.

Why should Paul be 'forced' to donate to her charities thru her divorce settlement? I think McCartney is a pretty generous person when it comes to charities and should haven't to be forced to donate to her charities too. If her charities are worthwhile (and I think one is, the Landmines one) then I'm sure Paul will make donations on his own terms and others will want to reach out to help the cause.

As for Beatrice, don't think that chump chance that Mom got in the divorce settlement was for Beatrice. I'm sure Sir Paul will do everything in his power to see that Beatrice gets her equal share of his estate; a share that hopefully will not have any access to her money-grubbing mommy.

32. She's sounds like a nutcase
LADY McCARTNEY impersonated a successful newspaper journalist in a largely failed attempt to break into the media before she met Sir Paul, it emerged yesterday.

Heather Mills, who now writes for Private Eye magazine, said that the former model had begun posing as her in the late Nineties, when she was working on The Observer.

“She pretended to be me for over a year,” the journalist wrote in The Mail on Sunday.

“She has been accused of being a mad fantasist. Certainly posing as me for such a long time adds a new dimension to her controversial and colourful career.

“She posed as me not only to her friends but in a series of meetings with TV executives. She even showed people cuttings of stories I had written.”
