Some advice regarding delivery people, please?
I just had a new washer delivered. I bought it at Lowe’s and they called me earlier to set up a time when they could come. Two men showed up and I opened the garage door for them to bring it in and hook it up.

All seemed to be going great, so I went through the door leading to the kitchen to get some money for tips. When I went back, I just went out the sliding glass door, as the washer hook up is close to the kitchen door, I didn’t want to get in the way.

As I approached the open garage door, I saw one of the men standing on the far side of the garage, looking at things we have on a shelf. One of the things is an old East Indian teapot; I always thought it would make a cool bong and I though maybe this guy was thinking the same.

When he saw me coming, he quickly moved back close to the new washer and crouched to talk to the other guy, so I didn’t say anything, but I had wanted to just offer it to him, as we will never use it. So, I busy myself with some junk on the worktable, waiting for them to finish, and I see the guy staring at the man door. Literally staring at the door and the locks, as they are getting ready to go.

I thanked them both and handed them the tips, and he doesn’t meet my eyes. I have been thinking about this and I want to call Lowe’s to ask what the guy’s names are that are delivering in my area. We have nice stuff in the garage, I want to be prepared if our garage is broken into.

The guy seemed to be the new guy and I don’t want to make trouble for him, unless of course my suspicion is correct. Why doesn’t Lowe’s have their delivery people wear nametags? If I do call, what excuse can I use so I don’t make trouble? Am I being paranoid?

1. Go with your gut.
Call Lowe's and register a complaint.

2. So you don't think I am making something out of nothing?
He didn’t actually do anything tangible. He seemed like the new guy and I don’t want to be responsible for a guy losing his job because he has ADD or something. I might call and ask for their names and say I want to write a review, not be specific. I am creeped-out though and my gut is often right.

4. He may just have ADD, but
I think it would be wise to err on the side of good judgement. If your gut tells you something, check it out.

6. Thank you, it won't hurt to call.
I am going to call, just get names, say I want to write a review on citysearch. That way, at least I will have a name. I did a google search and didn’t see any other concerns regarding Lowe’s delivery people acting suspicious.

3. I tend to stare off into the distance, 1000 yard stare and all that
I've been confronted at bars for staring at people, without even realizing I'm doing it.

Could be a bit of a nosey guy, or he could be scouting.

5. Scouting! That is what I am concerned about.
Maybe he is the new guy, but figures to do it long enough to scout out marks.

7. Personally, I think you're being paranoid.
Make a mental note and move on with your day. If your garage DOES get burgled, that's a different story.

In the meantime, I hope you don't get a delivery guy in trouble over something that hasn't happened.
