Why are button-fly pants useful?
Can someone explain this to me?

Honestly, if people are worried about things getting stuck in a zipper then maybe they should put down that bottle of whiskey for a few minutes.

1. I've always found them to be rather cumbersome, awkward and useless myself.
Unless I need them for some kind of historical recreation from a time before they had zippers.

2. I love my button fly jeans.
I've never caught my beans & franks in a zipper, but the button fly jeans "fit" me better than other jeans for some reason.

Your name Stacy Brown?

Have you hard about Stacy Brown?
He got every chick in town
He got looks, he got class
Do anything to get a little lass
And everybody shout at him as he walks his girlies past:

"Everybody got one
"Everybody got one
"Everybody got one
"But Stacy Brown got two"

Do you know the reason for his success?
They say that he is double blessed
They say that Stacy Brown was born
Just a little bit deformed
But still his girlfriends wake up smilin' every morn

Everybody got one
Everybody got one
Everybody got one
But Stacy Brown got two

Why they climbing up the wall?
Young ones run and old ones crawl
He got two and that's a fact
But no one knows where the other one's at
On his elbow, on his knee or underneath his hat?

Everybody got one
Everybody got one
Everybody got one
But Stacy Brown got two

I've never liked the button-fly jeans. No particular reason, I don't think. Just took longer to put on and take off.

My brother told me that this site was getting really stupid-- was he right? :Please tell me he wasn't...like that people get freaked out about shit that doesn't make a difference? Prove him wrong, ok?

We can "flame" about stuff that really matters, like what color my fingernail polish is...

much easier than with a zipper fly. Very handy in emergencies. Or other situations.

That is just exactly what i said or more or less!! I miss the 401s! Apparently the people that are posting here are too young or too something to actually try this? It's easy! Just rrrrip! and the rest is history. Putting them back on may be a chore, but isn't that true of all clothing on the day after? Just aim for "right side up"and go home!!!!

8. Because the sound of them being pulled open
by your soon-to-be lover: pop. pop. pop. pop. pop.

is SO much better than that stupid zipper sound.

I used to ONLY wear 501 button fly jeans in black.

Of course, I was also a 28" waist back then...

16. No broken zippers to worry about?
Or worse, zippers that fall down all by themselves. They do.

Buttons don't misbehave that way. They either fall off and disappear, or they cooperate. You know where you stand with buttons.

30. Army BDU (Battle Dress Uniform) trousers have a button-fly.
It was a trade-off for clothing that might have to stand up to rugged use. The buttons were more cumbersome than a zipper out in the field when you had to take a quick piss. But by the same token, if a button popped off, you could sew it back on pretty quickly. (And a lot of Army guys know how to sew. It's a good survival skill. B-) ) If they used zippers, and the zipper breaks, you're done. I've never heard of DIY on-site repair techniques for broken zippers.

British DU-ers, for "zipper", read "zip". Thank you. B-)

31. yes, I can explain it to you
button-fly pants are the only way to go. I have a few pair of "dress" pants that get worn on average once a year which have zippers, but that doesn't count.

1. Don't YOU tell me to put the whiskey down. I'll quit when I want to quit.

2 safety

3. classic style and engineering - the last place I want new-fangled gadgetry is my pants.

4. makes embarrassing open fly events a thing of the past

5. If you're used to it, they're just as fast and easy to open and close.

44. They're not... but they're better than one other type of pants (that they'll never make for men)
pants w/ a side zipper.

They'll also never make pants for men w/o pockets.

And men are smart enough to not buy these things. That's why the fashion industry will never market them to men.
