"Real men don't vote Democratic."
This sticker was seen on a red Chevy Silverado on MacArthur Blvd. a couple of hours ago. There was also some flag sticker saying, "If you don't honor and respect this," then something in smaller red print which I'm sure was a threat or some such. I gave the driver a thumbs-down before he roared off to enter 635 East.

I know ALL male DUers are REAL MEN who think and care about others besides themselves. This butt of a man must have some insecurity issues, don't you agree?

2. I agree

On a slightly different note, I hate it when trucking company owners decide to put political messages on the backs of their trailers. Covanent Transport has big anti-choice decals on the backs of their trailers. Central Transportation has the following on the backs of their trailers, "My USA supports our troops whenever we go (big American flag) No aid or comfort to the enemy. No way." Whenever I see one of those trucks I feel like telling the driver on the CB, "Hey, did you know that you have a straw man on the back of your truck?" Personally, I wouldn't drive for a company that put that shit on the backs of their trucks, but I guess we all have to make a living.

3. 'They' have a different idea of what makes a 'real man'
In the tiny Republic mind, "real men":

:redbox: dominate their wives and children

:redbox: drink heavily while watching NASCAR

:redbox: drink heavily while dominating their wives and children

:redbox: eschew learning, unless it's about their guns while drinking heavily

:redbox: think rape is the woman's fault because, hey, he was drinking heavily and she was hot

:redbox: secretly wish Sean Hannity would blow them while drinking heavily

Any more? :D

4. Liberal men are REAL MEN!
:* to all the DU guys.

It wouldn't occur to me to be attracted to a conservative man.

6. Amen to that
I was married to a repub because I didn't think it mattered. In the end I suppose it wasn't the politics themselves that put a wedge in our relationship (I think that was the VD he gave me while I was pregnant) but the reasons had very much to do with the personality aspects that make someone conservative (i.e., lack of insight or intellectual curiosity, compassion, etc.). I won't make that mistake again.

7. That's awful!
VD while you were pregnant.

Geesh. Douchebag.

Are you in a better place now?

I was married to a guy, who while not technically repub, had many of the same characteristics: wanting to control the checkbook (eventhough I always made the lion's share of our expenses,), telling me I wasn't enough like his mother (the way she did things), ugh.

5. Not that I advocate violence...in fact I don't...
however...
I'd like to see that guy say that to my

6'2" :hippie:
meat and potato eatin'
blue collar workin'
taekwondo kickin'
motorcycle ridin'

husband....

who is a DEMOCRAT...

and see what kind of reaction he would get...
I have a feeling I know what my husband's reactions would be

That could be really interesting to watch

8. In that case I must prefer the fake sort of men.
You know, the ones who think, and don't indulge in jingoistic tribal penis-waving. Oddly enough, they seem to be the ones who treat women with respect.

9. I always find these ridiculous 'real man' ideals to be somewhat amusing.
Hell, I'd wager that both of the male officers in the GLBT Pride Alliance in my school could kick the asses of any of your average 'real men'. :) The president is a boxer, and the VP (me) took karate for a while and spent the last three years building up strength, endurance and toughness by doing heavy manual labor in the Florida heat and humidity.

And both of us are prettier than any of those 'real men' too. :P

10. A real man wouldn't need a poster like that to assure himself
of his masculinity.

Quite common among Repukes.

13. Kudos to whomever printed the bumper sticker.

At least they typed "Democratic" instead of "Democrat".

Since I was 6 years old, I have made a conscious effort

not to be a "Real Man", because of the reasons listed

in the previous postings.
