Anyone here ever publish in an Academic Journal as an Undergrad?

I was just meeting with one of my Profs, who will be my Independent Study adviser in the Fall, and she suggests that as part of my coursework, I write a paper to submit to an academic journal. Apparently there are Econ journals that specifically publish Undergrad work.

I think it's a fantastic idea, but I must admit I'm a bit daunted by the idea of doing it. :scared:

Anyone in here have any experience with this sort of thing?

But you'll find that many journals are starving for interesting entries.

But, my Prof thinks getting published would give me a good leg up as far as Grad school is concerned. :)

3. I published a research paper as an undergrad.

I had a lot of help from my mentor and ended up publishing a first author paper in Nucleic Acids Research. It did help me with grad school. It is a great experience since it is something you will need to learn to do as you move up in the ranks.
