Vegan Cheddar Cheese? Not so much.....
I'm always looking for cheese and dairy alternatives because of lactose intolerance. So I went to the health foods store and they had vegan sharp cheddar cheese and I decided to give it a try, because "it melts!". Wow, that was really nasty. I'm pretty open minded, but that was absolutely awful. How do real vegans do it? This "cheese" had a very strong "cheese" smell and a tofu like consistency. The taste was very strong, but not even close to a cheddar flavor to it. Blech. Now the organic cookie I had from the store wasn't half bad, but I was surprised by the amount of fat and sodium it had, not exactly the most healthy choice in the store.

1. I like edamame and soy sauce
but anything else made of soy trying to be another food, not so much. Bean juice? Bean hot dogs? Bean butter? Nope.

Have you tried LactAid? I don't think I could live without cheese.

3. Yup, got lactaid all over the place because I can't remember to carry them with me!
It's just easier to not have to worry about having a pill before I eat or worrying if what I'm eating has dairy in it. Just get the alternatives and then I don't have to worry so much. Problem is, most alternatives suck. I found out that a lot of Kraft cheeses don't have lactose, but not all, so that helps.

2. Mostly we avoid vegan cheese. But I tried Teese the other day, and that's pretty good.
Was the stuff you tried Follow Your Heart Vegan Gourmet? Sounds like it, based on the "it melts!" (not really) and the tofu texture.

4. LoL. I just checked the package, you got the name right. I haven't seen Teese, I'll have to look for
that one. Is it in a specialty store?

7. It's not in stores yet, it's still brand new.
There's a review of it in the vegan forum, and I think that has the links, but if not, here's the info:
