Really annoyed with the parking garage
For the last 15 years or so, I have had a monthly parking pass at the county parking garage at the metro station I use. In those 15 years, the rates have gone up several times and they have always posted notices ahead of time and mailed notices to my home. Yesterday (April 8, 2008) there was a sign up that as of February 1, 2008 (yep that's the date on the notices) the rates had increased. Um, excuse me. It's customary to put notices up BEFORE the freaking raise in rates. When I got to the card reader to leave, it would not read my card. The attendant muttered something and called his manager, who said that they notified all monthly card holders. No, you didn't because I didn't get a notice. And what's more if what I was seeing at the exit was any indication, neither did a lot of other people. What is even more annoying is that I've been paying the old rate for the last 3 months and nothing was ever said. Yet a couple of months ago I had somehow managed to forget the rate, and gave them a check for $5 too little and two days later my card wouldn't work because I hadn't paid the correct amount. I am really annoyed, not just with the $20 rate increase which I can ill afford at the moment, but which I have to pay so I can continue to work, but with the fact that the parking authority messed up and won't admit it. Arrgh.
