My vet suggested an interesting idea to get my cats to lose some weight

So, my two cats are becoming obese, and my vet reminds me of this EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I bring them in for check-ups. Basically, I constantly over-feed them because they scream in my face in bed when their bowls go empty.

Recently, she suggested I hot-glue-gun some larger aquarium stones to the bottom of their bowls. She said this creates the illusion of more food, so they don't race to the bottom, and they're forced to nibble their food from between the rocks rather than gulp it down.

So far, they do appear to be eating less food! Success!

Anyone else try something like this? The vet said there are bowls out there that already have ridges molded into them, but that the stones and glue route was simple and cheap.

One of our kittehs is a food-inhaler. We started using a standard cookie sheet, and spreading her kibble all around the tray so she has to hunt down and consume each piece. It works pretty well.

I might have to give that a try... our problem is that we have one cat that's quite overweight and two that are almost underweight, and we haven't yet come up with a good way to get the two smaller ones (grazers) to eat enough without the big one sneaking all their food in between, and biting us in the mornings to wake us up, because dammit, he's HUNGRY! :banghead:
