1. No science fiction?
Of the ones you listed, I'd vote for Agatha Christie/Mystery. But I read more science fiction. It'd be hard to chose among Andre Norton, Marian Zimmer Bradley, Anne McCaffrey or Elizabeth Moon. Probably Andre Norton whose writing career has outlasted damn near any other two other writers.

2. Stephen King rocks!
He's my favorite. Period. I cannot think of another I enjoy so much, except maybe HP Lovecraft or Oliver Onions. Of course, I'd still rather read Stephen King over anyone.

tho when I was in elementary school, I did read all the agatha christie books. only King book I read was Carrie. never read Andy.

How about Raymond Chandler or Jim Thompson or Patricia Highsmith instead of Aggie? I'd go with that.

Or, overall, Jonathan Lethem.
