Too young
Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 03:36 PM by billyskank
On the dating site I moaned about the other day, I saw a woman, an American now living in London. She is 38 and from her profile it didn't sound like I am what she is looking for. But she is astonishingly beautiful, so much that I was moved to write her a message to say so. She replied:
Hi Rich,

I don't think we're a match (you are a little younger than what I had in mind), but I just wanted to thank you for the complement. What a sweet thing to say.

Sigh. Too young. This 31 year old would happily go with a 38 year old who liked me. Besides, I'll be 32 in a couple months. The difference may only be six years.

I replied that I was sure she was correct and I wished her luck in finding the fabulous man she so richly deserves.

There is no real point to this thread. I just wanted to share it.

4. That sucks.
Hope you have better luck next time. That much age difference shouldn't be a problem, imo.

7. Age shouldn't matter. But consider that maybe she fudged her age.
Maybe she is, actually 43, for instance, and feels a 12 yr age diff. is too much.

8. I'm 24, my girlfriend is 31
We had this discussion when we met and it's worked out nicely in spite of both our families/friends' opposition to it. Her older sister still calls her a cradle robber even though we've been together about 10 1/2 months. My mom is pretty sure she's manipulating me to get something.

7 is a lucky number, and 6 is my personal lucky number. I'll be 25 next Tuesday so then the age diff will be 6 years.

I subscribe to the idea of attitude over age. I have always been attracted to women who have a mature attitude, confidence, emotional stability, know who they are and what they want in life. I'm thrilled that it's now socially acceptable to date older women since Naveen Andrews is dating Barbara Hershey and Asthon Kutcher dated Demi Moore.

9. I should note that I've turned away women(girls? young ladies?) for being too young for me.
I know that women tend to want an older man but I would never want a younger woman, especially one who lives with her parents or can't legally drink.

11. I am married to someone who is 5 1/2 years younger than I
I do not get the whole "man must be older than the woman" thing.

13. She doesn't know what she's missing out on!
My hubby is 5 years younger than me. We were looking at old photos from when I was in high school young and cute..sigh...hag now...but anyhoo...he said something like; which guy were you dating, etc....I said, What do you care, you were just a baby then!

Now you go back and tell her to give you a try. Just over tea since you live in England and that's what they drink.
