Non-urgent vibes request
Most of you guys know that I'm a member of our local city council (board of aldermen). Well, the guy who held the seat several years ago has come unglued and has launched a harassment campaign against me.

I practiced law with this guy for about 6 months and left after seeing him engage in a few too many actions that didn't smell quite right. I also had the temerity to defeat the candidate who defeated him, and I think his ego is damaged.

Anyway, I've received around 20 strange emails over the last month or so. Here are a few highlights:

"you don't have anything but smelly teeth a nasty wife and no assets because your a lazy do-nothing-slob (as we both know) and Roy would have to pay for you. Have a nice day you lying piece of bird turd".

"Wait until you see what is coming up on Tuesday at the public hearing. Have a nice weekend. Make sure you double up your medication nutjob".

"I saw you on Channel 22 the other day in a t-shirt. You need to lose weight. Go to a gym. You look like a slob". (Actually, I prefer the term "Richardsonesque")

"She actually tried to hire me as an attorney once. I told her to hire you, she said you were the worst attorney she ever met. She said you smell bad, you have really bad breath, and that you are lazy and stupid". ("She" is a friend of mine who I actually represented in a small claims case a few days ago)

"imagine if people knew what a loser you really are? How the court was going to bring you in front of the PCC board?" (The only PCC complaint I ever had was from a grumpy old man, and that was dismissed after about five minutes)

"I received six phone calls from ward three residents last night. Each one said they support my bringing a complaint with the AG's office and will work hard to unseat you the next time around. I also got three tips. One, you got evicted for non-payment of rent. Two, your wife works for Jeff Michelson, who cares about that one, but interesting that people would call to tell me that. Three, you are on medication for depression" (No, I was not evicted, and yes, I am on meds for depression. BFD.)

Obviously, this is getting tiresome. If anyone cares to send a good vibe my way, I could really use it.

1. Better than vibes...
if you can prove a pattern (clearly you can) of harassment, you might have grounds to acquire a restraining order. Has he ever made any threats? Not political threats but threats against you, your family or property?

2. Not against me
He may have tailed a young woman from the school board around town at 2 am in an effort to hound her from office, but as far as I can tell, he hasn't started stalking me in person yet.

I am going to turn the emails over to the county prosecutor and let her make a determination as to whether this violates a couple of statutes dealing with interfering with governmental operations. I'm also going to ask the state supreme court disciplinary panels in both NH and Mass to investigate this behavior.

4. His behavior is definitely unethical
but you would know better than most of us whether or not it's unethical enough to cause him some problems.

I hope you can nail him for something just to get him to stop. Good vibes on the way.

3. My dear BlueDogDemocratNH!
He is sure icky!

I think letting the DA (or whoever you said) have a look at these emails is an excellent idea...

Good vibes to you, sweetie!

How dare he treat you this way?

6. Sounds like you are turning to the right people
to deal with a crazy-ass stalker.

This situation calls for a nice can of whoop-ass. However, you definitely have my moral support here. You should be able to do your job in peace.
