1. L&S the early years was so good
then it sucked so bad when it moved to Hollywood.

3. Well, I knew how *you'd* vote.
I should have added a special "Temeah need not reply" disclaimer.

at the bottom of ALL posts in the Lounge....

5. Other: Jerry Palter
Oh a mighty winds a blowin’, it’s kickin’ up the sand,
It’s blowin’ out a message to every woman, child and man
Yes a mighty winds a blowin’, cross the land and cross the sea,
It’s blowin’ peace and freedom, it’s blowin’ equality.

23. Funny enough
He did most of the writing on the music for the movie. He and Annette O'Toole wrote "Kiss at the End of the Rainbow" as a love song for themselves.

6. I believe virtually everything I read
which makes me more of a selective human than someone who doesn't believe anything. And I believe that "Michael McKean" is simply an alias for the patron saint of quality footwear. ;)

8. Oh, there actually was a Saint Hubbins?
Well, nonetheless, I think you’re, like, rationalizing this whole thing into something you did on on purpose. I think we’re stuck with a very, very stupid and a very, and a very dismal looking poll, this is depressing. This is something you wear around your arm, you don’t put this in your fucking Lounge.

19. Hahahahaha
:spray:  And they have to be the right kind of polls, too - don't want the bumpy kind, y'know? :silly:

(When asked if women are disappointed when the nature of his poll is revealed, DuStrange replied, "No, not really - they have a choice, you know? Well, several actually - 'a suffusion of yellow' has really been quite a hit with the ladies recently, although 'Robb is a dingbat' remains a classic favorite." Noted Spinal Capricorn groupie turtlensue was unavailable for comment, due to her rigorous nekkid yoga schedule. Oddly enough, turtlensue's rigorous nekkid yoga schedule was also rumored to be the reason band member temeah was unavailable for comment as well, although sources close to "The Nipplemeister" insist that he is working "very hard" on a "solo project." Specific details of temeah's "solo project" were not available at press time, but many reviewers are speculating that this project will expand on some of the recurring themes in his work with Spinal Capricorn - namely, nipples, nipples, and more nipples.) ;)

13. Just out of curiosity, how old are you?
Leonard, or "Lenny", was part of the duo "Lenny and Squiggy" who were two friends of Laverne and Shirley on the Laverne and Shirley show, a spinoff of Happy Days.

I ask about age because I think for those us who were kids in the 70s and before, we think of Lenny first when we think McKean. For those who were kids in the 80s and later, I imagine they connect McKean with Hubbins.

14. I'm a child of the 60's but I rarely watch TV.
I saw "Happy Days" a couple of times and I've heard of Laverne & Shirley but I never watched the show. I had no idea that McKean was part of the cast.

Actually, the cult of Fonzy was one of the reasons I gave up on TV.

And the channel selection has expanded beyond The Big Three.

Just bringing you up to speed, pops!

27. "Got thirteen channels of shit on the TV to choose from"
Last time I heard Roger Waters sing that song I think he upped it to 300 channels.

Too bad quality doesn't always increase with quantity.

31. Sadly true
In fact, I think that the aggregate amount of "quality" on TV has remained about the same, but now it's dispersed over hundreds of channels instead of a dozen.

17. Adrien Van Voorhees
Turns out that McKen record with The Left Banke but NOT on Walk Away Renee

At this point, tension between Brown and the rest of the group began to surface, as Brown recorded a single, "And Suddenly"/"Ivy Ivy," under the Left Banke name, using session musicians (including future member of Spinal Tap Michael McKean) and Bert Sommer on lead vocals.

21. I like his turn as Agent Mulder
in that cool show called, ummmm, the Z Files.

(The one where he's a suit at Area 51 and switches bodies. The leers he was giving Scully were cool.)

24. That was a rare high point after the show had begun its downward spiral
And the episode includes a nice homage to the mirror gag in Duck Soup.

28. Yeah
You're right. I began to look for other things to watch right about that time. When Ducovney left, I stopped watching altogether. It had gotten too murky in purpose, and I began to be confused.

There is really no polite way to tell someone their brilliant and sensational product has gone past its peak.

Michael McKean is one of my all-time favorites...I think that he
and his lovely wife Annette O'Toole are truly 'thee' Hollywood Couple.

Edited on Fri Apr-25-08 11:07 PM by Orrex
For some reason I always think that I'm going think that I'm going to think he's annoying, but I always turn out to be wrong. I don't think I've ever seen a performance by him that I wouldn't describe as "very entertaining," at least.
