Some people are real assholes.
Edited on Fri Apr-25-08 03:07 AM by Drunken Irishman
I went to a playoff game tonight and my team lost. I was pissed, really pissed, so I wanted to get to my car as quick as possible. I'm waiting to cross the street, standing next to this homeless person (he sits there after every game playing an accordion, but never really asks for money), when some fucking tall, ugly sonofabitch looks at the homeless guy and says "GET A JOB!". I flipped, I thought it was a classless, hatefilled thing to say and I shot back at him for it. That angers him and he comes after me and we go at it, right in the middle of the street. Thankfully a cop was there to break it up and was nice enough to send us on our way.

So I'm crossing the street, the classless idiot is behind me and I hear him tell his idiot friend he could drop kick me from behind. That sets me off again, so I turn around and yell, "you look like the guy who would cheap shot me," and we go at it again. This time a little Mexican guy stepped in and started defending me, ripping off his jacket and nearly getting into a brawl with Tall Ugly Douche. It was pretty heated, but I eventually removed myself from the situation because I was pissed enough and didn't want to spend the night in jail.

Now I'm a runt, I'm skinny and not very tall, but have an anger problem and his statement, coupled with the loss, flipped my switch. So our team lost, no reason to take it out on the homeless guy. Asshole.

If there is karma, he was mugged on his way to his car.

1. I would have said something to the guy, just as you did.
I don't think you need to blame yourself for anything here by the sounds of it.

3. What pisses me off the most is that no one else said anything.
So had I not piped up, nothing would have been said.

Yes, let's take a loss out on the homeless guy who isn't really bugging anyone.

Real nice, fella! :eyes:

2. Yeah, some people really are assholes
I'm sorry he said such horrible things and upset you.

I'm really glad that thing transpired in a way that kept you out of jail.

When I hear people talk like that to other people, I usually turn around and say "there, but for the grace of God, go I."

Yeah, there are plenty of those morans who won't understand what that means, which is a testament in itself to their mentality.

Those that do understand, usually shut up pretty quickly.

4. Go at it, but not in a physical way........
once you touch, it's assault. :(

I'm all for defending those who don't deserve to be hurt. You were right to say something.

The guy's a dick.

8. Thankfully, I didn't.

I knew if I did, with cops being all around, I'd be spending the night in jail and that's not what I wanted on top of the loss. So I verbally got into it with him. I could tell right away he was all talk, because he kept moving AWAY from me as he was yelling at me, as I kept trying to get closer to him. Generally, when they do that, they're all talk.

6. That's a big pet peeve of mine too.
People picking on homeless people, especially those who are just sitting around and minding their own business. Some assholes think "Get a job" is some kind of fucking advice. He can't get a job because he is homeless. There are a lot of prejudices about homeless people that a lot of employers harbor. Like
"homeless are lazy, stupid, and smelly," those prejudices will not get you a job. Plus you got to get some kind of phone number and address so the employers can tell you got the job or not.
