Karma's a Bitch!

In all seriousness, I looked at this picture just thinking of the irony of the situation. I don't know anything about the picture, but it just made me stop and think.

Also, does the guy applying pressure to the leg look like Coolio to anyone else?

I really really do not want to offend anyone with this thread. It was a photo that I thought was very provocative.

4. Well, we're in the middle of the 14th inning right now
And we don't have any position players left, since Jones and Garciaparra both left with injuries, and we're down to 13 position players anyway since they sent DeWitt to Vegas the other day to bring up some kid pitcher from Jacksonville, putting 12 pitchers on the roster.

Didn't expect that much detail, did'ja? :)

6. 12 seems like a high number of pitchers.
Is there a reason they need so many? Are these season ending injuries or will they be back? What is the score?

Didn't expect me to be interested, did'ja?:P

I'm always happy to give someone a chance to talk about their passion. ;)

9. Most clubs are carrying 11 or 12 now
Some even 13. It's the Age of Specialization — five starters, then relievers for every inning after the fifth. Throw a coupla left-handed relievers into the mix and it adds up.

Both injuries seem minor — Jones fouled one off his calf, Garciaparra pulled a calf diving for a ball down the line. But his legs are so bunged up, he might be out a few days, so they'll bring DeWitt back up.

We've got bases loaded and one out. It's the 13th, though, not the 14th like I said before.

Martin hits a sac fly! Dodgers win 8-7! :bounce:

12. Alas, it wasn't a slip
I'd lost track, and when Charlie said it was the second seventh-inning stretch of the night, I assumed they were going to the bottom of the 14th.

28. Funny about Bogie, though
Did he ever say "I love you" or really express any such sentiment in his films? I haven't seen all of them, so I dunno, but if Rick and Ilsa's love story was supposed to be one of the best ever, you couldn't tell it by him.

29. I don't honestly know.
The only Bogie movie I've ever seen is Casablanca. He didn't come off particularly warm...more nostalgic for the times with Ilsa and Sam.

30. Guess that was just his character
Ilsa spent half the film telling him "how much I loved you... how much I still love you," and the best he could do was "Here's looking at you, kid."

Meh — bad boys, or somethin'. ;)

Oh — he did a really good 'B' movie, "The Desperate Hours," with Frederic March. Check it out if you get the chance.

I'll have to look for that one. Our roommate has a ton of movies. I'm sure he's probably got that one stashed away somewhere.

He didn't kiss them, though — especially not as if it were the last time.

Maybe he was bi...?

But, hell — even Louis was more suave:

I was informed that you were the most beautiful woman ever to visit Casablanca. That was a gross understatement.

5. I'm so glad I'm not in medicine.
Deep down in my heart and soul I don't believe in killing or letting someone die, but that primal biological animal part of me screams in my head sometimes for justice. This is one of those times. I most definitely would never ever act on it, but I would think about it.

7. You know he was bitching at them the whole time, too
"Get me a white doctor!"

"I don't want no n***ers touching me!"

"Make sure that blood you're giving me is Aryan!"

I bet the nurse on the right grabbed him by the face at some point and said "Listen, honey, we're going to save your perfect white ass whether you like it or not!"

25. Snopes says the photo ain't real.
This photo appeared to be a posed or fabricated image intended as ironic or humorous political commentary, and the crease down the middle of the image suggested a picture scanned from another source, such as a magazine. (Despite many viewer's mistaking it for such, this image is not a screen capture taken from an episode of the popular television hospital drama ER, nor is the doctor shown in the center of the picture actor Eriq LaSalle, who portrayed surgeon Dr. Peter Benton in that series.)

Evidently this assessment was correct, as the source of the picture (as well as the others displayed below) was Large magazine's "For people who think bigger than they are" ad campaign.
