I had a killa migraine yesterday. All day long. I woke up long enough to see if I could stay awake without tossing my cookies, then went back to sleep when it was obvious I couldn't. my back and neck are sore from the pain. my son and four of his friends decided for some reason to hang out with me for a while as I sat here beating my head with fist (that actually feels good with a migraine, believe it or not) and they wanted to talk about how to cure migraines and about why religion is mostly crazy, except the parts where everyone agrees (things like golden rule) and how mountain dew is a great source of caffeine for headaches... so they woke me up at about midnight and I've not been to sleep since. but I was able to keep down some excedrine migraine after they were here, so that's good.

overall, a pretty exciting saturday night.

I was wondering where you were. Did you know I kicked temeah's ass on Friday for you?;-)

POST SOMETHING IN ALL CAPS!--It makes it seem important. Or make a post how doing x is gonna give you cancer..the "We are all gonna die"! post seems really popular..Also inclusion of any of the following words is pretty much gonna get a reaction: vaccine, ghost, pharmaceutical, UFO, psychic,alternative med, peta, vegan, etc...
For GDP..thats easy just do either: Hilary Sucks! or Obama Sucks! Thats the basic level of discourse there...:D

Everything! People here are too nice to just tell you to go away. We all PM each other about you and figure if we just don't respond you'll eventually leave. Looks like you're going to resist as long as possible though.

I'm just kidding, but I'm so tempted to just leave it at that just to see what kind of response I'd get. IF any.

I know the feeling and I bet you'd be surprised at how others know the feeling. I've never been quick on my feet with responses so, while some can read a post and respond almost immediately with a couple good paragraphs, it takes me a LONG time. I've always been a slow writer, and it's disappointing to finally organize my thoughts, make a response, and then be the last in a long line of responses. And it stays last. Forever. I don't post frequently, but I've killed many a thread.

Don't feel bad. I've seen many posts here just like yours, written by people that I know are very popular, but nobody bats a thousand and everybody has a slump now and then.

I'm not ignoring you! (OP). I just posted on DU for the first time today. I've been reading DU religiously since 2000 -- never posted. For reasons I'll go into some other time (when I've posted more!) :) I decided to start 2 years ago -- and never posted my message because.... yes, it's the freakin' post count competition. I was too afraid to do the 1st 1000 posts required to make me eligible for stating my opinion. But I would like to say that I just posted my first (and very silly) comment under the Lounge Thread about what makes you a liberal and the OP, SallyMander, immediately welcomed me with great kindness. And I really appreciate that.

The people here are generally friendly, non-judgemental, and *gasp* possess an actual sense of humor. After a little while, I got up the balls to actually wade into GD with my asinine opinions. Hey, they aren't any more asinine than other people's, I say!

Trust me, I have many asinine opinions on the way! :eyes:

I'm sort of like you in that I've been pretty much a daily visitor for at least 6 or 7 years, and just broke 1,000 a few months ago. I kind of miss my special status as a noob. Now I'm just another 1,000+ poster.

You still have that thrill of being in the high 900's and oh-so-close to a thousand. Then, finally, you'll be at 999 and you'll wait for that special post worthy of being #1000. You'll wait and wait, but then finally give in just to get it over with and wind up saying something utterly mundane. Then it's over. You're nothing special anymore. No more milestones to reach. No more thrill at seeing that little number in the parenthesis getting bigger and bigger. It'll just be your name and that shitty old stale 1000+. Forever.

Anyway, here's a hearty good riddance to your silence. The more the merrier. :toast:

BTW, "Ajijic" is one of the most unusual looking names I've ever seen. I googled it and it looks like a beautiful area.

But I appreciate your poetic memory of what it was like before you hit it big :) Yes, Ajijic is extremely beautiful. After the 2004 "election", I gave up, sold everything I owned, got on a plane with my two cats, and moved here. I still obsessively read DU and Smirkingchimp and CrooksandLiars and Huffingtonpost and.... well you get the jist. I can move away, but I can't let things go! I used to post pictures or my smiley threads and they'd get out of control. Now I get three posts and that's it. It makes me terribly sad.
