Paris: Not quite as good as Public Enemy, but...
well worth checking out. If you think all hip-hop is about bling-bling and booty, you need to hear this. (BTW, my 54 yr-old mother turned me onto this :D )

1. The album that's on is coming out Sept. 23rd
I got on his mailing list last year, and got this announcement recently:

The Return Of Truth In Hip-Hop! GuerrillaFunk.com

Peace and thanks to all supporters who have written in!

SONIC JIHAD, the long-awaited album by Paris, will be released worldwide
on September 23rd in both retail stores and online at www.guerrillafunk.com.
The webstore release has been delayed as a result of recent developments
which lead to the securing of worldwide distribution capabilities through
traditional channels for Guerrilla Funk.

About Sonic Jihad
After a mild hiatus Paris returns with his most pointedly-focused and brutal
condemnation of the ills of society to date. Waging righteous warfare (hence
the title) on all that he perceives as being wrong with world in this current
political climate of manufactured fear and "War on Terror," he covers such
issues as the New World Order, the manmade origins of AIDS, military lies
and propaganda, police brutality and the embarrassing state that hip hop is
currently in. The first single, "What Would You Do?? has already been a
lightning-rod for controversy in the United States, garnering coverage from
such notable sources as MTV2, The New York Times and MSNBC for it?s
suggestion that the Bush Administration played a key role in orchestrating
the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. And it doesn?t stop there -- the
album also features input from progressive hip-hop visionaries Dead Prez,
Public Enemy and Kam. Add dancehall sensation Capelton to this already
impressive mix and you have a potent molotov cocktail of an album ready to
explode.

As one of the few remaining artists who can be relied upon to remain
consistent with both his content and his dedication to musical quality, Paris'
latest effort will please not only his existing loyal supporters, but should
prove to gain him many new listeners as well. Be sure to check in often, as
we?ll be releasing additional mp3s of new material soon.

What we need now is for supporters to let buyers at stores in their area know
that there is demand for Sonic Jihad! Let your local djs and radio stations
know that you support real hip-hop and demand more from your entertainment!

*******

The press campaign begins the week of August 4th. Promotional products
for the album and single will go out nationwide the week of August 11th.
Press inquiries and interview requests should be directed to Nicole Balin at
nikyb@adelphia.net.

4. Paris = WOW
I don't like The Coup too much because they're admittedly Communists. And I'm not really down with that.

Dead Prez is great--kind of a revolutionary, Black Panther-type group in the form of a rap duo. They have a lot of GREAT beats and excellent songs (check out "I'm An African", "Its Bigger Than Hip Hop", "Be Healthy", and "Mind Sex").

And Paris is a rapper everyone on this board would LOVE--especially considering that he's most well-known for his "Bush Killa", which was an anti-George Bush Sr song. I wouldnt be surprised if his new album had a track called "Shrub Killa"--LMAO!

Anyway, check out Paris' website at www.guerillafunk.com . Its got excellent essays/articles about government and much more.
