Eclectic Saturday Night DU Music Video Mix.
I'd like to begin with a flash from the past ...

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ra8VTlXVqUQ&feature=related

I have no idea what the lyrics attempt to communicate, but I love the tune. ;)

Please feel free to add anything you wish to the "collection".

:hi:

MARY GAUTHIER - I DRINK

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUvA86_DYaI

I Drink - Mary Gauthier

He'd get home at 5:30, fix his drink and sit down in his chair
Pick a fight with mama, complain about us kids getting in his hair
At night he'd sit alone and smoke, I'd see his frown behind his lighter's flame
Now that same frown's in my mirror, I got my daddy's blood inside my veins

Chorus:
Fish swim, Birds fly
Daddies yell, Mamas cry
Old men sit and think
I drink

Chicken TV dinner, 6 minutes on defrost, 3 on high
A beer to wash it down with then another, a little whiskey on the side
It's not so bad alone here, it don't bother me that every night's the same
I don't need another lover hanging 'round, trying to make me change

Chorus

Bridge:
I know
What I am
But I don’t
Give a damn

Chorus

26. It kinda dawned on me, too
Here's the weird part. When the Puppies toured through Dallas promoting the Too Dark Park album that song was on, there I was at the concert, trying to maintain my place at the front of the stage, with 1,000 screaming industrialists and goths squeezing the breath out of me. Then Ogre started stabbing himself in the head with a screwdriver, and at the same time, a crowd-surfer accidentally kicked me in the back of the head, dislodging my earplugs and leaving me reeling. That's when I realized that I'd better make my way to the bar. Sheesh.

I still got backstage, though, and got to talk to Ogre for a little bit. Got autographs from cEvin Key and the late Dwayne Goettel as well, and spent a lot of time talking with the guitarist from Tank Hog, which was Skinny Puppy's opening act that evening.

And here's the backing video for Spasmolytic that Skinny Puppy used at the Dallas show...

like a fun night, aside from the kick to the head and the screw driver stabbing. ;)

28. ZOMG PUPPIEZ
I WUBS DA PUPPIEZ!

One of the strangest concept bands ever. Theoretically, every song is sung from the point of view of a dog, but I don't think they were particularly consistent with that theme. I'm pretty sure they're the only reasonably popular band to do every song in stream of consciousness.

25. New (for me) discovery
If you like genre-bending industrial-metal-techno-trance-etc., you may like Celldweller (a one man band).

Switchback: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knV1H163ISE

Frozen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2x6pjgRdB_A (amazingly good bass line kicks in at 25 seconds)

Last Firstborn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jryDyvmqwSg

From the Wikipedia article:

Eponymous Debut

The self-titled debut LP Celldweller was released in 2003 on record label Esion Media (currently known as FIXT Music) and Position Music after being sold exclusively via the internet on Celldweller's own website and CD Baby, then later on iTunes. The album debuted at #17 on Billboard's Internet Sales Chart. In 2004, the album took home five awards at the Just Plain Folks Music Awards, winning Album of the Year, Producer of the Year, Industrial Album of the Year, Metal Song of the Year ("One Good Reason", the instrumental version of which is available on the Need for Speed: Most Wanted soundtrack) and Best Industrial Rock Song ("Switchback"), and also took runner-up in Best Industrial Song (to its own song) with "Stay with Me (Unlikely)" and Best Rock Song with "I Believe You".

Every song on Celldweller has been licensed at least once for a movie, video game or another form of media with titles including Doom, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Supercross, XXX: State of the Union, Spider-Man 2, Constantine, Catwoman, The Punisher, Paycheck, Timeline, Mindhunters, National Security, Bad Boys II, Redline (film), Project Gotham Racing 3, NHL 2003, Enter the Matrix, XGRA: Extreme-G Racing Association, The Hills Have Eyes 2, Crackdown, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, America's Next Top Model and Pimp My Ride. This is a feat that has been accomplished by only two other artists; Moby and The Crystal Method.

Sometimes I need tha Buddy.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=WgeX9iYOFSQ

People who try to tell you that Neil Peart was the greatest drummer probably aren't aware that mister Peart did a Buddy Rich tribute album. There are other jazz drummers arguably better than Rich, but we don't need to get into that here.
