Just as I was pulling into my parking spot here at home, the Emergency Broadcast System took over the radio and the sirens started to blow. It was about a mile from my work, and everyone that I left at work were still there and in the stairwell. Everyone is safe. Now it's just rainy.
And it's headed your way!

I was on the highway coming home from work when the sirens came off--yikes! I had to stop at a light right off the highway, and I thought my car was going to blow over, it was rocking so hard. Rain was falling so hard you couldn't see the roadway.

Pretty darn scary--I hate driving in that crap. But it's all clear now . . . .

I absolutely HATE driving in that kind of rain. I was so glad to get home.

and they came out of nowhere. It was the damndest thing I'd ever seen. Lots of big, big branches down on my place and on the dirt roads. Sounded like a train.

But my little hovel stood fast.

part of the rebuilding cycle of a complex of thunderstorms they will collapse when they start to lose their energy and precipitation and you get a strong downburst wind that can easily do the damage or more than a tornado can, sometimes over a broader area, but will dissipate almost as soon as it starts, just blows really hard and then it's gone. That's why they send the NWS out to look at damage because straight line winds aren't covered the same way by insurance and the NWS has the authority to declare the damage as tornadic or straight line winds. The train sound must have been unnerving but good your place stood fast!

Also these storms were moving fast... they were gone almost as fast as they got here.
