Bye, DU! See you in a couple of weeks. My flight leaves Sat. pm.
I'll be travelling in Northern Italy. I'll be sad not to be able to visit with y'alls. But I'm glad to get a break from the Endless Primary Season!

I'll toast you Loungers with a glass of Prosecco in St. Mark's Square in Venice...

12. Yes, through Cosmos
We took a very similar tour in November 2005, but this tour will take us to Rome, Capri and Pompeii, which we didn't see before.

I hope you have a wonderful and safe time! Are you on a tour yourself?

15. Yes, this is my first GoAhead tour. I was scheduled to do their "Walking the Amalfi Coast"
last October but was sidelined by a complication from surgery and laid up for MONTHS. So I shifted my deposit to this trip. I like the trips they have. They have a creative way of designing them and they are VERY cost conscious. But I have to see if they have good enough service.

I am scheduled on my second Smithsonian value priced trip to northern Spain and the Basque Country in late October. I liked the last one I took of theirs so I am hoping this one will be great too.

I'll give a review on DU of this Italy trip when I get back.

16. Both trips sound terrific - have a wonderful time!
We'll start in London, then take the ferry to Brussels, then go through Germany and Austria into Italy, then to Switzerland, ending up in Paris.

18. What a great trip! You must be adventuresome!
My mother was like that. It's a great quality to have in your life, IMO.

Hope you have a wonderful time. Somehow I think that you will...

13. I have high hopes. I didn't dislike Alitalia, which I have flown a few times to Italy.
It's just that I am often nervous about connecting flights and my bag. It can be a royal pain if your bag doesn't make it on time and you are on a scheduled tour...

17. This is GoAhead Tours. They have creative tours that I like the feeling of.
I'll let you know how the tour turns out. I am hoping that this tour, being that it is going where most U.S. tourists don't go (Turin, Bologna, Verona and Venice) will attract more sophisticated tourists.

We'll see....

8. How about the Cappella degli Scrovegni in Padua to see the Giotto frescoes?
I'll be taking a train from Venice to Padua (about 25 minutes) and seeing this masterpiece. Since I'll be doing it alone, there will only be a tour conducted in Italian. My Italian ain't that great (I had 2 courses in it). But I do have a great art book I am taking along.

My daughter wants me to get her a reproduction of an old map of Venice. Hope I can find that!
