Bake sale suggestions needed
We're having a bake sale this week to raise funds to sponsor our international students at the AIDS Walk.

I want to contribute, but my oven is broken.

I prefer not to bring in Entenmann's or any of the packaged pastries. The bakeries here charge $4 for a cupcake so I'd rather not go that route either.

Does anybody have any suggestions for homemade non-baked items that I could make?

1. Chocolate Fudge Oatmeal Cookies
No baking required for these fudgy oatmeal cookies!

INGREDIENTS:
2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup evaporated milk
2 tablespoons cocoa
4 ounces butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped pecans
2 1/2 cups quick-cooking oats

PREPARATION:
Combine sugar, milk, cocoa, and butter in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly; boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla and chopped nuts. Add oatmeal and stir to blend thoroughly.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper. Makes about 4 dozen no bake chocolate oatmeal cookies.

2. How about fudge?
Should be a good seller.

There are also those chocolate/oatmeal/peanut butter no-bake cookies that are always good. Sorry, I don't have a recipe, but you could do a search.

5. My mother used to make these, and her oven worked
They are just good.

NO BAKE CHOCOLATE - OATMEAL COOKIES

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. milk
2 c. sugar
3 tsp. cocoa
1/2 c. peanut butter
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. quick oatmeal, uncooked
1 c. coconut, shredded (optional)

Mix butter, milk, sugar, and cocoa in saucepan. Bring to a full boil, stirring constantly. Boil 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Add peanut butter and vanilla. Stir until peanut butter until well blended. Add oatmeal and stir. Immediately drop rounded spoonfuls on wax paper and allow to cool. To keep mixture from hardening in pan, you can fill sink with hot water and place pan in it to keep warm. Store in cool place.

6. Cheese cake (never mind)
My Girl Scouts used to make a thing called Chinese haystacks. You melt a package of either butterscotch or peanut butter chips in a double boiler then throw in the canned chinese noodles and mix well. Drop by teaspoon onto waxed paper or foil and refrigerate. (After they've hardened they hold shape even here in SC summer) We tried with chocolate chips one time but they didn't hold up as well.

Another thing you can do is donuts. Take the canned biscuits, stick a hole in the center of them and deep fry. After draining, put in a bag with cinnamon sugar and shake.

Or you could get a couple frog candy molds, make the frogs and wrap them in a gold foil and call them whatever they were called in the Harry Potter books.
