People who wear skirts: Long or short skirts? Does anyone else prefer long skirts?
Because of the ridiculousness of my legs (short and blockish), I have to wear either exceedingly short skirts or almost floor-length ones, since anything that splits my leg in two ends up making me look like a gnome, as far as height goes, as well as making my legs look ridiculously heavy. I prefer not to wear skirts but for dressing up, but I like long skirts far more than short ones--I feel a lot more comfortable, strangely.

I also get enraged sometimes by fashion advice for women, including the good old "If you're petite, wear short-skirted clothing, to make you look taller!!" Nonononononono. Maybe if you have decent legs this is a good idea, but not for me. Short skirts show off my atrocious legs and make me look awkward, long and puffy skirts make me look rotund...all I have to me is long and skinny skirts.

Am I the only long-skirt prude out here?? :P

1. Nope.
I prefer long skirts. Your legs sound similar to mine, but I'm tall. :D

3. Ah. I struggle against the 5 foot, 1 inch boundary, I think.
Height's not for me, which is bitter considering my dad is 6'4". :eyes:

My prom dress, miraculously, is petite size and long-skirted (floor-length), with no tailoring necessary. I am jubilant! This is crazy! :D

10. I have the opposite problem.
I'm 5'10", so I can't find anything long enough for me. :eyes:

2. I prefer mid-calf skirts.
Never did like mini skirts. I was always too fat to wear them.

6. I don't have much experience with skirts, to tell truly.
I never sit properly--right now I'm sitting tailor-style on my computer chair, and am exceedingly comfortable--so I do not mix well with short skirts in that regard either. :D

4. I prefer knee-length or longer...
I admit to being happy with my legs - thanks, Mom! - but I have never felt comfortable in really short skirts, or even mid-thigh. I like to be able to relax a bit when I sit down, or move around in public, rather than worry about unintentionally showing my ass or privates to the public.

Here's a hint - to make your legs look longer, wear nude or bone-colored shoes. NOT WHITE! Nude, light leather, or bone. Dark shoes with heavy straps can make your feet look block-like, and your legs shorter.

7. I look really awkward in white sneakers with shorts on.
It's pathetic. My legs gain about 20 pounds. I actually like dark shoes, particularly dress shoes, and I despise heavy straps, so that's never a problem.

Barefoot is the most fun, however. :D

5. Long. Definitely.
I have about a dozen of those "broomstick" things. They're cooler than jeans in the Florida heat, and I don't have to fear revealing more than I want to when I sit down or bend over.

To me, short skirts look ridiculous on anyone over thirty, but YMMV.

8. Long skirts. They flatter me and are cooler on hot days.
The downside is that between those and the long hair, the Jesus freaks start talking to me like I'm one of them. :hide:

13. I've always preferred long skirts.
When I was younger and minis were in style I wore them occasionally, but now that my knees are strange because of arthritis, I don't wear anything above the knee and that's just fine. I'm neither tall nor short, at 5'8".

14. Definitely long
My legs are pretty large and muscular (years of sports and weights), so I'm a big fan of the long skirt/high boot look in the winter. I sometimes hate to see spring arrive for that reason.

16. I'm short; even 'short' skirts are long on me
If they're supposed to hit mid-half, they reach my ankles. If they're supposed to be long, I have to get them hemmed.

18. I like long ones
more flowing, I think and they tend to look a bit better on we short folk.

That being said, I'm getting a bit old for "short" skirts....

21. I'm a guy - I find long skirts way better, and far sexier, than short ones.
I like a nice full length skirt.

Or a dress.
