Ever feel oddly ripped off when the weather bozos get it wrong?
Every teevee station in the area has had "ZOMD! HOT!" scare forecasts for the last coupla days, including Extreme Heat Advisories and "How to Beat the Heat" segments. It was supposed to be 97-100 degrees today and up to 105 tomorrow. Instead, we topped out at about 90, and it's already down to 82.

I was emotionally primed for Fucking Hot, but all we got was Hot.

I want my money back. x(

1. Today I was actually HAPPY about it.
I need to build up tolerance over the next two months before I'm ready for the inland heat.

Showing your Hot Fucking face to all the world like that. Not too many people have seen my Hot Fucking face. Prolly a good thing, I'd imagine it looks sommat goofy without the sound.

15. Yeah, but it was breezy and never felt hot today.
I think it was in the mid-90s for about an hour.

2. You know what REALLY browns me off?
When they say it's gonna be shitty, so I plan not to do anything that day and maybe even do some shopping the day before -- and then it's NICE after all! :banghead:

High clouds, too. When the wind stops, it will be hot. Perhaps tomorrow, or by the weekend for sure.

5. I hate it when forecasts call for rain...
...so I drive to work, and it ends up being a gorgeous day on which I could have ridden my bike. Happened 3 straight goddamn days last week, that really annoyed me.

The opposite heavily bums me out too, of course, but for whatever reason, it doesn't happen nearly as often.

But Mount Baldy is on fire so we really do not want the heat (even if ole Baldy is like 80 miles from here).

Edited on Wed May-14-08 09:47 PM by mycritters2
they were predicting the ice storm of the century. It didn't get cold enough to freeze either time, so the kids got a couple of rain days! So, some people are more stupid than the weather bozos...namely, the school bozos.

I brought in tequila and margarita mix and vodka and wine coolers by the palletload. Worked my butt off today too putting it all out (too tired to post a photo of me with no butt - sorry).

23. The first one she linked me
sounded like Sing Along with Mitch. I could just see him, pumpin' those arms like he was tryin' to fly away.

I said I'd rather hear it from the '30s, the way it was meant to be.

Love that xylophone. So Betty Boopish. :D

you're right! ;)

It's interesting. That sound would be totally unacceptable if a percussionist was looking for a xylophone today. A lot of the sound has to do with the types of mallets, but still...

25. I only get mad when the weather idjits are totally stupid
For instance, when our area was three years into a severe drought and we had a slight chance of rain for the first time in months. The blonde bimbo weather person was on air whining about how that would ruin her weekend at the beach. I think she lasted another two weeks until they could find another idjit to take her place.

Most of the time the weather announcers (cause few actually are meteorologists) are just reading from their scripts provided by a weather service for the station. They have no clue as to what will really happen. So I rely on the National Weather Service (http://nws.noaa.gov/) for my planning - and they are wrong on a regular basis.
