Update on my stepdad.
He's being taken off his breathing tube on Tuesday. He'll most likely die soon after. He may survive a few days after...but I doubt it.
Tomorrow we will say goodbye.
After he passes on, we will be spending a lot of time with family, as shiva will be observed. My stepfather isn't a practicing Jew, but he wanted everything to be traditional...in the end.
I'm fine. My stepsisters, mother, and Ariel are in rough shape.
Thank you for all the support you have given me, and the prayers and thoughts given to my family.
It is all deeply appreciated.

Long ago, I was a critical care RN, and I saw this scenario played out over and over...

It is the best thing you can do now for him.

I realize how hard it is to let go, but he deserves to pass in the most peaceful manner possible.

My deepest condolences to all of you, esp. Ariel.
