IzaSparrow says the National League is "real" baseball

and the DH is a cop-out.

I say there's nothing better than the roar of the crowd as Big Papi launches one over the green monster! :woohoo:

What do you say, Loungies? Is your League affiliation purely based on the team you root for, or the mechanics of the game?

:hi:

Therefore, the AL is softball. :D

Go Cardinals! :woohoo:

16. No good reason except to throw a little fuel on the fire
I'm a longtime O's fan (yeah, they've been hot the last 25 years or so) as well as a Rangers fan (their record speaks for itself) and a sometimes Mariners fan. However, I think I've been to almost as many NL games as AL games.

Glad you like the sig line. It's like a shiny new car - I'm really proud of it

I am a Yankees fan.

I like the DH.

I root for the AL, although it's hard to when the Red Sux are in the playoffs.

and absolutely hated when the Brewers came to town.... But come on people, does it really freaking matter? It's baseball. Baseball=fun either way. Get over it now.

19. I love all baseball, truth be told.
But, I think pitchers should hit. They're athletes. Everyone else plays offense and defense.

But, now that I'm all in lurve with a Michigander, I have to say nice things about the Tigers (and hence the AL).

Quarterbacks shouldn't kick field goals, soccer goalies shouldn't play striker and hockey defensemen shouldn't go to the net.

35. Yes.
The catcher isn't as much a specialist as the pitcher is. The catcher isn't also as adversely affected by getting hit in the hands by a pitch, nor the wear and tear on the arm tendons each time a slab of wood meets a 97 mph fastball, who then has to go out and throw precision 25-40 times.

44. Baseball players go to BAT
That's like saying "third basement shouldn't have to hit." We don't have offensive teams and defensive units, like in football. We have players. NINE OF 'EM.

I remember when pitchers could hit.

The AL just doesn't have that same complexity. That being said, baseball is great.

So I've got both the AL and NL covered.

And personally, I like that the AL has the DH and the NL doesn't. It goes well with the overall idiosyncracies you see in baseball that you don't see in other sports.

Now, if only we can do away with that stupid interleague play.

45. NL is better
I was a Cubs fan as a kid, so that's what I watched the most of, but I really do think the rules are better. If the Cubs aren't doing well, I root for the Tigers, so I'm not really league loyal.... it's just that DH is complete bullshit, and a cop-out that sissies take because they don't have the balls to play a real sport.

46. I have no team anymore because the Expos moved, but I'm with IzaSparrow on this.
I hate the DH like I hate the Christian Coalition. Both are a blight on our great country.

Even if the Expos were still a team and had Andre Dawson in his prime, I would still loathe the DH. If we're so jacked up on offense that we need to give jobs to big hitters who can't field worth a shit, why not go the extra mile and introduce aluminum bats, larger baseballs and 225-ft. fences?

If you're going to hurl 90+ mph pitch at someone, you should stand in and face a few as well. But that's just me.

The DH has not ruined baseball, it has merely offered up a different style.

Google Finnish baseball for a whole new world. ;)
