I'm freaking sick of DU

I guess the honeymoon is officially over for me. I'm a fucking fed up with everything here at DU. Why in the fuck is there so much goddamn fighting and bullshit spewed by everyone? It gets so easy to become ensnared in the bullshit and start spewing it yourself. It's like a contagious case of violent verbal diarrhea. There's no point in attempting to gather any sort of news from this site, because articles are fabricated, chopped up, or have outside links you have to go to anyway. Whatever it is, I do not like it one bit. Spending any sort of time on this site only serves to put me in a foul mood or frustrate me at the insanity.

So, fuck you DU, I'm outta here.

The gas-station lattes/mochas are only 69 cents or so - a real bargain in splurges - and that doesn't count the times some clerk has comped me (hint: always be polite. It pays). I find they're a bit too sweet for my taste, so I fill half the cup with the sweet stuff and top it off with dark roast.

My local gas station actually brews a decent cup of joe.

Seriously, the DU is a political website and lets face it, it is cyber intolerance at its worst. People who would never say anything "mean" to anyone feel free to be total asswipes when they are at their computers typing. You have to remember this - When you read a string of flaming crap... It is some person sitting in their own house or office thinking they are the most cleaver and under appreciated gift to the literary universe EVAH! Likely they are the kind of person who never speaks up in real life but just simmers like a pot of suppurating pus.

Advice... Get over it.

There is a reason why politics and religion are not discussed in most bars... hot button issues and alcohol do not mix - I am sure that the DU has its fair share of liquid courage injected into many threads and also its fair share of nut balls ----

There are some very smart and thoughtful people here - Most people just want a nice thought thrown their way once in a while, it even happens around this place so have an appetizer and a drink and apologize for saying to all us all, collectively, "fuck you."

Here's my "story"

I was sentenced to be here by my local district court. It's punishment. I am currently chained to a table with this computer and have to read DU-Primaries 2.5 hours each day.

I am waiting for someone to bring me a cake with a hacksaw...

For what it is worth, I wish you would stick around. I have always enjoyed your posts.

I think most of us have become pissed off here at one time or another, and some of us have even stated we are leaving because of it.

Here is the way I think of DU now. All of us here have a common general mind-set, and that is, we are liberals.

Now, ya got your nice liberals, and ya got your prick liberals, and ya got your in-between liberals. But I think that deep down, we all have shared GENERAL beliefs, and I think that I can safely say that because of these beliefs, we can generally find more support here than in the population at large.

DU'ers will always offer sympathy and support when it is required, and also, you can post ANY question here about ANYTHING, and you will usually get a few really good and helpful responses.

So please, think about staying.

I've liked what I've seen of crimsonblue, and will be sorry to see him go.

There's no guarantee on any discussion board, or anywhere in life, actually, that you'll always run into nice people. In fact, you'll probably find more jerks than nice people, even among liberals. But it is worth it, IMO, to stick around for the nice people, who do make it worthwhile. Philboy is definitely one of the nice people, and crimsonblue - you are, too.

Please don't be offended by GDP or any other forum. Just let the nastiness and vitriol roll off your back. Life is way too short to get worked up over rude, asshole-ish comments. And you have to learn that more often than not, it is simply not worth it to argue with some people. Stand up for what you believe in, do what's right, and don't waste your breath shouting into the wind.

The one thing that does irritate me, though, crimsonblue, is that you came to the Lounge to tell everyone to fuck off - when I suspect you're fed up with GD. Most people are in the Lounge for fun, and snarky assholes don't stay long. So if you had a specific issue in the Lounge, say so. If you're mad at GD or GDP or whatever, please don't yell at us - we're the mellow, funny people who post stupid polls and love to show photos of our pets.

Some people just take it too far and turn into complete assholes about it because they can get away with it because it's easy to get away with that kind of stuff over the Internet.

Don't quit for good. Take a break, and come back when things calm down here a little bit. Worry about the REAL things in your life, not the children playing on the Internet. When you're less stressed out/pissed off, come back and play with us again!

when it came up with all those different forums listed in the lobby. When I first joined, we could discuss a lot of different topics in the lounge. Books, movies, music, health, etc. But then all that changed. If you happened to post something about a subject that has it's own forum, someone would make the point of telling you that you have posted in the wrong forum. But, if you posted it in the correct forum, it could be days or weeks before there would be a reply. So--what's the point? DU lost a lot when it added all those different forums.

Go to the lobby and look at all those forums. It's ridiculous.

I have had bossy assholes tell me "This belongs in the computer forum" - "This belongs in the cooking forum" WTF? If I wanted to post anything there I would... and then I would wait for a month for a reply.

My favorite is when someone posts anything at all political in the lounge - it takes maybe 3 posts before someone tells you off for posting it here. Try it. It's fun.

I could not agree more about all the forums here. I understand in a way - but it takes so much away from a well thought out post when no one ever reads it.

I check one forum about once a day and we all sort of half ass respond to each other.
