1. veggies on the grill are always a hit....
Lately I have been buying baby bokchoy and drizzling it with sesame oil and soy sauce, then grilling it :9

2. That's a good idea... I'm thinking
possibly about grilled veggie pizza or chicken wings/thighs

I've heard skirt steaks are pretty cheap too.

I want to try making my own cole slaw this year also and of course, potato salad. ;)

10. do make your own cole slaw
I started making my own, and it's always a big hit at barbecues and pot lucks. I use either equal parts green and red cabbage, or 2 to 1, and lots of carrots, all cut up in big stringy pieces. Mix that together with loads of mayo and vinegar, along with some good black pepper, and it's super delicious. It's also one of those things that gets better with a day or two in the fridge, so left overs are no problem.

3. First, find some stray cattle..............
But seriesly.....

The humble hamburger and its companion, the noble hot dog are excellent grilled food. Get some Potato rolls, sweet onions and relish, mustard, ketchup and mayo and you're all set.

A burger done right is just too good.

4. Round steak. Marinate in cheap Italian dressing.
Grill to taste.

You can do the same thing with chicken. Most of the chicken variations around my house involve some sort of bargain salad dressing and whatever chicken parts are on sale for the cheapest.

5. here's my special cheap sauce:
Big squirt of ketchup, little squirt of mustard, big pinch of brown sugar, dash of Worcester, shake of chili-powder. You can turn a can of regular pork & beans into baked beans with that and some onion. I brush it over meatloaf before baking. Good luck.

6. Get invited to the next-door neighbors' cookout. Economical as hell.
Eat well for the cost of a gift six-pack of decent beer.

7. I made some excellent ribs with a mustard vinagar based sauce....
....unfortunately I more or less improvised it, so I couldn't tell you even if I wanted to.

8. Beer can chicken
You can use any one of dozens of recipes on the internet. Here's one:

http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_19397,00.html

Basically, take a whole chicken, rub it down with cooking oil, sprinkle on your favorite seasoning rub, carefully place a 1/2 can of beer (with extra holes punched in the top with a churchkey) into the chicken's cavity, keeping everything vertical. Place on a grill set up for indirect heat for about 15 minutes a pound, then enjoy one of the best roast chickens you'll ever eat! :9

11. it's already been mentioned, but this is a good one:
burgers. One good thing is that hamburger with more fat in it is cheaper than the lean stuff, and makes for better burgers when you aren't adding anything fancy to it. Just make some nice hamburger patties and add a little salt and pepper. Delicious.
