One of my cats peed on my husband's new motorcycle boots!

One of my cats peed on my husband's new motorcycle boots!
I can't believe this. Our cats very rarely misbehave. And it's difficult to know which one did it, because one is sleeping, peacefully on the couch, and the other went outside.

The only other time either cat peed outside one of their *many* litter boxes was while we were on vacation for two weeks...now that I could somewhat understand.

But... what on earth would make a cat want to pee on motorcycle boots?!

4. Hey... I try to train my cats!!
If I ever catch one or the other of them doing something like that, I will give them the "Baaaaaa'aaaad CAT!!" treatment and a time out in the bathroom for at least 10 minutes (which is like an hour in "cat time")!

39. If possible it's best to punish them right when you catch them red-pawed.
If a lot of time has gone by they might not know what they are being punished for.

9. Just a suggestion if he's planning on throwing the boots away...
Because I've been through the same story more times than I care to think about, and a dog peed on my very nice Doc Marten boots not all that long ago - before giving up on them throw them in the washing machine. You may be surprised to find out they come out BEAUTIFULLY, and odor free. And if not - well, you were going to throw them out anyway!

10. He thinks they don't smell...
but he has a sinus infection right now... the poor guy! He might be surprised, when he gets well, just how bad it is! Thanks for the suggestion! :hi:

Isn't it funny, with cats...when they do something bad it's almost impossible to tell if you have more than one because they lay around like nothing has happened? And yet, when I walk in the door our dog (Jessie/Sheltie), will look at me, flatten her ears and run off...before I even notice what she's gotten into. I guess all cats go to hell.

19. It's been my experience with more than one dog,
they do the 'lay around like nothing untoward occurred' as well. Three perfectly innocent looking dogs napping while a chunk of linoleum was ripped up. Same thing when the wainscoting trim was ripped off the wall. Same modus operandi when all the canned goods were removed from the lower shelves chewed open and eaten.... Trust me, it's not just cats. Your dog is just EXTREMELY sensitive. A week with The Damn Mutts, and your sensitive little Sheltie would be as corrupt as you could envision.

was his fault for not putting them in the closet where they belong? That is what I tell mine when the ferrets tear the insole out of his boots, shoes or whatever else he was silly enough to leave with in their reach.:rofl: The cat is just trying to teach him to put his stuff where it belongs.:evilgrin:

The boots could smell of something the cat in question does not like...the cat probably thinks he/she has improved the boots.

Motorcycle boots are not cheap either.....Poor kitty

We have role reversal, quite often, in our household. The kitties are still alive - both of them - and I still haven't figured out which one did it!

He just bought them yesterday... left them out, but the box open. They hadn't even been worn yet & there was a huge puddle, too. :-(

29. Are any of the cats urinating inappropriately anywhere else?
I realise the temptation to think it's an emotional response, but a urinary infection can cause inappropriate urinating too. Keep an eye peeled for any other signs ...or smells... that might indicate a trip to the vet is required.

Yes... the boots were brand new. He just got them, and only one was even removed from the box. As I posted a few minutes ago, I'm just thankful it was on the tile! lol Oh, and I'm thankful it wasn't on my boots!!

35. My oldest cat peed on my daughter's backpack the other morning
right in front of us! I had to throw the backpack away! We got a new kitten a few weeks ago and I wonder if this is why. He has never done anything like that in the 5 years we've had him. He's the most docile, kind cat, but lately, he's just been a real pain in the ass:mad:

36. I've heard about cats "marking their territory" before.
I'd hate to think either of mine felt they had to do that. There was a neighbor cat, who wanted in, sitting outside the window a couple of nights before... and I hadn't even thought of that. hmm...

37. Where were the boots made - or the leather made?
Some places still use urine to tan the leather. I knew someone who had a Mexican made saddle that always smelled like pee, especially when it was wet. The leather broke down really fast, too. ;(
