reminds me of a friend, don, who died in a car accident after a night of Quaaludes. we were around 18 years old.

we worked together on a mid afternoon/evening shift. i told him i was going to quit my job because i never saw the sun setting anymore. and i missed it. i missed seeing the sun set.

the next night he grabbed the maintenance keys to the building and grabbed my hand. "get up. come with me." and he lead me out of the office, in the elevator to the top floor penthouse, unlocked the office penthouse, and lead me up a small stairway. he opened the door and there we were on the rooftop! "sit with me," he said. and i did. and we watched the sunset together.

it was probably one of the nicest things anyone had ever done for me.

i'll never forget that.

and then
he was gone within the year.
