I need your help tonight...

I got to my Dem Club meeting, like always... Set up the refreshments, like always... The folks start coming in; we set up the chairs etc... And then I come to find out... Today, our secretary quit... I am the new secretary, two months in advance...:scared: I have never done this before, and my notes are well...a bit sketchy... I will be OK, but right now, I need to decompress... Can you help me? TIA... :(

9. Aw peg, just take sketchy notes....

Set up an outline of how a regular meeting progresses and then just plug in the highlights... Or better yet, tape the meeting.

Well, I started out with pretty complete notes... And then, let's just say, they went downhill! But there's another lady who does notes for the newsletter, and she will send me hers! And I do use the program outline to follow along... Thanks for your great suggestions! :hug:

That they would elect you - or that someone appointed you - to fill this role, is an honor and tells me that you are held in high regard. Even if no one else wanted the job, it still says something that you're willing to step up and accept this new role. On another note... So you're coming in two months early. So the officers are elected just a few months before the election? That seems strange. Michigan's county Parry officers are elected in the weeks following the general election. Of course I see that's a club and not an official county Party you're talking about.

37. I'm sure you will do fine and after all there is usually

discussion of minutes before acceptance so everybody can collaborate on fixing any errors. I suck at taking notes so I bought a cheap digital recorder for meetings. It connects right to the computer and you can fastforward or go back very easy (matching to notes). It can be a pain to listen to a meeting again afterwards but it has come in VERY handy a few times. (It also is supposed to double as a personal i-pod like thingy, but I am clueless about that kind of stuff)

I think that you will do just fine :) The suggestions above of bringing a tape recorder or if you have a PDA that records (my husband has one that does) that would be good and may take some of the note taking pressure off of you. It is good that someone else is there that takes notes who will share with you. Breathe deep and jump right in - you will be great!
