1. We already know what happens when there's only one.
They make a bad sequel where everyone is retconned into aliens. Then they decide that it sucked so hard that they're going to leave it out of the continuity and continue on like nothing happened.

I realize this kind of prediction is highly unpopular here, but...I still think there's a chance that an as yet undeclared candidate will get the nomination. Even if it is a neutral choice like Al Gore...GD: Primarily Nuts will start bashing Gore. Some of them are addicted to abusive behavior. With a nominee who is neither Obama nor Hillary, they will need to abuse someone and whoever isn't their preferred candidate will get it pretty bad.
