IVF twins dumped because they're girls. Father wants to keep trying for a boy.
A BRITISH couple abandoned their newborn IVF girl twins at a hospital – because they wanted boys.

The mum aged 59 and dad, 72, conceived in India with fertility treatment and returned to England for the birth.

They told horrified medics they did not want the “wrong sex” babies immediately after the Caesarean section in Wolverhampton.

The husband then asked how soon it would be before his wife was fit enough to fly out again for further IVF in the hope of getting a boy to continue the family name.

An NHS insider told The Sun: “Everyone is utterly appalled. How could any parent do this?

“This is Britain in the 21st century. “But they just weren’t prepared to raise these two beautiful girls.”

2. Jesus...
What on earth could possibly be cuter than two baby girls...

How do you give them away so easily? These people do not deserve children, boys or girls.

8. But it's for the best, really.
The twin girls are spared from having parents like that, and another deserving couple will be able to adopt them. The girls are much better off. And they'll probably get a younger father who will live to see them grow up.

It's interesting that the "parents" see IVF as a strictly consumer-oriented practice. "This isn't what we ordered! Sent it back!!"

10. "keep trying for a boy"
the words i heard over and over again from infancy. i was #1, #2 was also a girl, and the third "try" "worked".

this was in the 1950s. things haven't really changed enough since then, i see.

i think it has to be horrible for a child to hear that they were not what was "wanted", and that your parents have to keep "trying" over and over again for what they "want".

just like Twisty, I Blame The Patriarchy.

14. My mom's late husband's son, who I'd rather not call my stepbrother, went through four boys,
who he never gave a shit about, before he finally had a girl.

He ignored her too. He's a piece of work anyhow, he's covered in racist tattoos and four of his five kids are half Mexican. :eyes: But the good news is, he finally went out and got a vasectomy after the girl was born.

A good parent happily takes what comes along, unless there's a good medical reason to skew natural odds (such as a sex-linked disease) and bad parents come up with no shortage of excuses why they ignore their kids.

15. Do people realize that this is common in India?
Getting rid of baby girls in India isn't uncommon. Feel relieved though, these two people were willing just to give them away. If this was in certain parts of India, these two baby girls would have been killed after birth or left somewhere to die.
Aside from a cultural preference for boys, having a baby girl is actually seen as a burden. In Indian culture it is customary for a female of marrying age to have a dowry for the groom and his family. More recently the grooms' families have been upping the standard for a dowry to marry off the girl. Typically, these marriages are arranged well in advance. Not everyone is taking part in India's economic boom. As a result, when a girl is born you're family is instantly burdened with a debt. With a boy, you become the recipient of the dowry. This sort on interplay has raised problems, there are lots of young unmarried Indian men around but no wives for them to pair up with.

These two girls are actually lucky.

17. While the parents are utter bastards, the girls are very lucky.
They don't have to grow up with utter bastards for parents, and have a chance at perhaps getting some human ones.
