How is it that I've never heard Winger's "Miles Away" before?

It hit #12 when I was in high school. I would think that I was still aware enough of pop culture then to have heard the song at least once, especially since I absolutely loved the follow-up single ("Easy Come, Easy Go"). Nevertheless, I just heard it for the first time today, after reading about the Winger "Demo Anthology" release.
