10. Is it a window unit? If so, just give it a sound swat.
Giving something a good whack is always the best idea.

Right, it's not.

14. Filter clean?
Window units run/last for-bloody-ever. I've got one that I bought when I was 16 that still works perfectly. That's 20 years.

Yeah, I'm old-ish.

15. I should check that
thanks for the tip.

The fan is working right now, I think it is due to the temp outside.

17. You know what
that was it. I took the filter out, it was pretty dirty so I took it outside, shook it out and re-installed it and now it works fine.

Thanks.

26. I am thankful
My Tube Amps put out an AWFUL lot of heat, the AC keeps the room cool.

I owe you some 1554 for that.

23. I'll have to file that in the memory bank.
We haven't had many days around here where the AC was needed, but one time it was, I couldn't get mine working either, and it's only three years old, so I know it ain't dead yet. The filter did seem a bit dirty, but I never thought that would be the source of the problem.

Well, maybe sometime in July when the sun comes back, I'll get to test the theory.

4. Weather Underground says it's 57 degrees in St. Paul.
Maybe it's just not warm enough for the thermostat to kick in?

18. Dude, you need A/C in Minnisota?
I turn mine on in Tennessee when the indoor temp hits 80. If it is cooler than 80 OUTSIDE I open the windows. I grew up outside of Rochester, N.Y. without the benfit of air conditioning and only remember a few summers where it was "too hot" to sleep. If I lived up there I wouldn't even bother with air conditioning, I would save it for winter energy expenditures. Sounds like you need to crack a winder!

In all seriousness, it does get hot and humid here in the summer time. My body does not like it.

25. We have 2 central AC units, and on one of them the compressor has shorted out
We had to pay $96 to learn that, and it'll cost $850-$1,000 to replace it. Shazbot! Might as well buy an entire freaking new unit!
