What should I wear for my thesis defense?
I don't really know what the appropriate attire should be (other than no flip-flops or shorts). My interview suit is way too hot to wear in College Station (TX) in June. I will have to walk a long way from the parking garage to the building and I want to be comfortable, yet not too casual. I am thinking of buying some light-weight slacks and a short-sleeved shirt of some kind. The suit I wear for job interviews in gray and polyester (some cheap thing I bought at Kohls). It would be appropriate but highly uncomfortable for the ride home (5 hours more or less). We have to check out of the motel early so I won't be able to go back and change there.

2. I may need that.
Hopefully, though, they will only ask tough questions and not throw things.

4. A suit
Bring it with you and change there. I've heard of people getting failed because they didn't wear a suit - it was considered not taking the procedure seriously.

5. I agree with EP
The suit - take it and change there then change back when it's over. Just duck into a restroom. Anything less and they could see it as disreptectful and not being serious.

Pity. The thesis should be the thing, but people do judge on appearance.

Khash.
